What happens when the printer runs out of resin in the middle of a print?

Just wanted to say thanks to Vinicius Silva . He has been holding my noobster hand and literally walking me through learning my new printer. Finally got my photocentric castable resin to print. This group is full of great people and I’m glad I found it!

Now to get the burnout schedule for the resin and try to cast it in Silver this weekend. More successful photos to come I hope.

This was one of my first few prints, used anycubic green, finally got around to priming and photos, apologies about the video shot with a potato. Catwomen figure I'm toying around with in Zbrush. It was primed with Tamya Grey, I didn't do any sanding on it, was just a prototype testing.

Quick question; whenever my wife asks me “how much did that cost to print?” I always say “less than a dollar!” But if I really wanted to check, could I just weigh the finished item and convert that gm 1:1 to mL of resin?

Hi everyone -

Something new happened today and I'm not quite sure what it was.

On my lunch break today I removed a print from the build plate, and started a new print. I came back home tonight to a "finished" print.

Absolutely nothing on the build plate. And it looks like I had less resin in the vat.

I haven't drained it yet, but there should have been SOMETHING in the build plate, right?

I'm at a loss. Everything else went normal and I don't think it was stirring the resin cause 20 minutes before I'd just finished a perfect print.

Thanks again for all your help everyone!

Hi All! Two questions please:

1. Is there a way to change the Z=0 height on the fly when printing if you think you may have levelled the bed too close to the screen?

I am hearing quite loud popping of the FEP during the entire print (vat has FEP installed by the manufacturer).

2. Is there a way to determine when to change the FEP to prevent a disaster ?

Currently my FEP has some crease like lines in it but is not cloudy, there seems to be no printing issues atm.

I have found that when cleaning my FEP with 100% IPA the FEP film tends to be cloudy when dry. I now clean with IPA and final polish with a microfibre cloth and small amount of Methylated Spirits (that's the Australian name) and the FEP remains crystal clear.

Cheers :)

Having some issues with FTD SB Black. On larger/long prints (10+ hours), the pigmentation seems to coagulate at the bottom of the vat. It's like 20 year old oil sludge in a car's oil pan is the best way I can describe it. Have tried varying the exposure time from 10 seconds up to 20 seconds @ .04 layer. Have also varied the off time between 1 and 2 seconds. Also, gets shaken vigorously for about a full minute.

Doesn't have any problem with the base layer adhering, supports will look really good for about 5 hours, then it's like the LCD can't penetrate the sludge.

Thoughts/ideas/fixes would be appreciated. No problems with Wanhao, AnyCubic, or Monocure resin...just this one.
