I found a winner in resin for the Photon! Nova3D prints as well as the Anycubic resin and costs about half the price. I talk about some of the misses that come with making those first resin purchases and what I think about this particular material. Have a great night all and please do let me know what you think.

so I have a few spots on my FEP. NONE of them seem to really affect my prints. Prints still come out fine. The top spot that you see in the picture, is actually raised a tiny tiny bit. If I rub my plastic spatula over it, I can feel it catch a tiny bit. I have tried multiple times to get it off (with the spatula, raising the fep with my finger from the bottom, with IPA, etc) and can't get it off.

Question... Should I worry about this or change the FEP?

So I replaced the windows on my printer with 3mm amber acrylic from TAP plastics. I found that the stock blue windows to be next to useless at blocking UV irradiation. Using my UV curing flashlight, I found that the AnyCubic White standard resin cured in under 30 seconds when shining thru the standard windows. There was similar performance when I cured the resin without any window blocking the UV light. The new arcylic windows I installed allowed the resin to remain totally uncured when exposed for over 120 seconds. This video is where I got the DXF files to laser cut out the new windows.

Just finished my first successful print. Before this the first layer couldn't attach to the build platform and got stuck on the FEP film. Tried calibration with the white paper at least 7 times and tried the Flint Read method too, but the the FEP film was so slippery that no matter how I lowered the build platform trying to stop it moving on the film (I was sure they were fully attached and pressed together) I could still easily rotate the platform. Didn't want to take the risk of destroying the LCD by pushing too far so I stopped.

Finally I got the first layer attached by returning to the paper method but lowering 1 to 2 more steps of 0.1mm after removing the paper.

The first successful print is very good to me. The settings:
0.05 @ 9 seconds normal exposure, 70 seconds bottom exposure with 4 bottom layers. Thank you Aurel Manea for your sharing of these numbers!

The model is a scanned head of myself. Used the FlashPrint to generate the supports and ChiTu DLP Slicer to make the base and do the machine setting mentioned above. Again all tools info were from this amazing group and I appreciate you guys all! :)

Washed the model with Methylated Spirits mentioned in this review: https://goo.gl/nygCCJ (I am based in Australia so normal IPA is more expensive here). Used first container to wash out most of the resin residue (shook in the solvent for 2 mins) and then a ultrasonic cleaner to wash for 4 mins and finally some water rinse. Put it under the sun for 2 mins.

Two questions here:
(1) There's a darker horizontal band at around the height of my earlobe. Anyone has an idea what's the cause of that?

(2) On the sides of my face and areas around/inside the ears I saw some funny white marks. They looked even more like tiny holes when the model was half dried. I was wondering if it's the Methylated Spirits eating the resin but they only appear above the dark band I mentioned up in (1). My mouth and jaw don't have this kind of marks.

I also noticed that the white stuff in the ear look like some piles of ear wax. So maybe it's because I didn't wash the model with enough time so the resin residue came up as these white stuff when cured by the sun?

Anyway it's my first print and first post here. Hope you like it and share some comments. I've been doing 3D designing/3D printing/3D scanning professionally for over 10 years. I used very professional machines including Z Corporation/3D systems/EnvisionTec before so I am quite familiar with these technologies, but the new innovation from some companies like Anycubic is just amazing.

Not happy with the first pump I made, it was modified one from Thingiverse and the geometry was completely wrong. So sod it.... The Toby1kanobi peristaltic pump was born. Time to test it.
