OK new Phontonsters listen up, especially you excited chatty ones who like to sit at the back, I know what you're up to back there!

This is the thing if you're comming from FMD printing you need to know that home is not 0,0,0 on the photon like you are used to so do this exactly and don't worry your photon will work

Before doing any of this loosen you build plate so it can wiggle about.

Also check how clean and free of grit dust or other general crap before you do this.

(you are going to be bringing the plate very VERY close to your screen you DO NOT want any crap in the way to damage your screen)

First home the plate this will bring it close to the bed (without the vat in the machine) then switch to 0.01 steps and with a piece of paper on the screen lower the plate till you can't quite tug it free then hold the plate steady and tighten it so it won't wobble any more.

then raise it by enough so you can pull the paper out but still feel it pulling a bit as you do. (this means you are now absolutely level with the screen and high enough to print well.

then back out of the move menu and hit the Z=0 menu you will be asked if this is the new z=0 hit yes and go back to the move menu and set the movement steps to 10mm and raise it up by hitting up 7 or 8 times then replace your vat fill and go print.

Trust me this WILL work DO NOT HIT THE HOME BUTTON AGAIN THINKING YOU HAVE TO HOME THE PLATE YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS EVER EVER EVER!!

now stop throwing stuff at the back there! and go PRINT AWESOME STUFF and remember Photonsters help others out once we learn stuff and junk so do not be afraid to share if you find better ways.

First print (file provided on the flash drive by Anycubic) was a success. Thank you to everyone that answered my questions and helped out with the non z issue I thought I had :) Here is a pic of the cube a little wet from water.

Found this resin provider, they have glow in the dark, I don't know nothing about their resin, but I thought it might be interesting for others ;)

So I did my first print last night and I filtered the IPA so that chunks of the resin were taken out, however I noticed that the leftover IPA is colored...

Is it reusable? Can I filter and reuse the IPA or am I stuck dumping it out and only being able to use it one time?

For those of you who own a FDM printer along with the Photon. Here's an interesting article showing how FDM printed parts can be smoothed using UV resin. This might turn out to be a good way of upcycling material every time you have to clean the resin vat.

this would be a good way to mesure exposure time for resins... any idea where to find one or even how to produce a similar gcode for the photon? (this is a daylight resin)

ACPS x64 1.3.5 seems to slice the model skewed which is not good - but the 32bit version is fine.

Tested Makerjuice G+ fast today! Here's my report, starting with results: I used the exact same settings as the starter green goo / test print cube, and I'm very happy with the quality of the print!

Some weird things: after printing, there was a lot of "foam" and bits on the build plate and vat. Seems like this stuff isn't as pure..? Full disclosure though, I didn't fully clean the vat of green goo, so there was a bit of mixing going on. Cleaned up easy. I was also surprised by how much "thinner" this resin was compared to the green goo... Much more like milk where the other is like syrup.

The final detail is fine, but it feels a bit softer before additional curing and the supports broke off more easily. It's possible the detail is sliiiightly less, but hard to see. Overall, happy with results and will keep printing with these settings and resin for now! :D
