Well, since I got quite a big order for semi flexible parts, I ordered a bottle of Photocentric UV Flexible Black.
After reading many terrible reviews about this resin, I got a little worried.
Today I received the resin and tried my first print of the actual parts.
Luckily it turned out quite good actually! I really am positively surprised!
?
Below my finding and how I did it.
Resin came in, and after unpacking I did a quick sniff to see it smelled bad or not.
It's better than Anycubic, but more or less the same as Monocure Rapid to be honest.
As I read somewhere dark coloured resins need to be shook well, I shook the sh*t out of it
?
.
I fired up Anycubic Photon Slicer and loaded 4 of the parts onto the virtual build plate.
After that I searched for the settings reported in this FB group and decided to give it a try with:
LT: 0,04 - NET: 20s - OT: 1,5s - BET: 60s - BL: 8
Slicing took a while and once done it said it would take up to 3,5 hours more or less.
Print started and when I got back home, the display said it was finished in 4 hours and some minutes. Not to bad at all.
And now the most nerve wreking part....how did the prints turn out...
?
Did a quick peek and I say the actual shapes as I loaded up!
Took off the build plate, put it straight in my ultrasonic cleaner with IPA and let if run for 2 minutes.
Then I took my Stanley knife and tried to take the prints off the build plate....Man, damn, these things are stuck...seriously, how?
I barely got them off without damaging them. With normal resin, just a pinch is enough to take them off.
Anyhow, afterwards I threw the prints back into the ultrasonic cleaner with IPA and let it run for 3 minutes.
Since I only have a nail curing UV station I put it there for 4x60s to get rid of the stickiness.
They still feel a little tacky, but not that much I believe. It feels 'rubbery' and it's quite flexible indeed.
All in all I'm really surprised about the result, in a positive way.
Indeed, it's a slow resin, but until now it seems to work.
Tomorrow I will test them on strength, but for now, I'm happy with the result.
