QIDI TECH Shadow 5.5 S Anyone have one of these? That MONSTER z twin rail, in combination with what looks like a metal body and lower price than both an Epax or Photon S looks pretty tempting.

I've been getting these weird vertical lines on prints. At first I thought layer shift or FEP tension but it's not on that axis. My screen has a few hairline cracks or scratches, could those be causing the lines? The line runs thru the model. And like I said not Z layer peel I'm pretty sure since the line isn't on that axis.

Got a single, pixel wide vertical line in a print all the way thru. Can't be a layer line because its on the other axis from the z. Could it be a screen issue? My screen has a few deep scratches or cracks could that be it?

So I caught the problem I've been having. I've never printed such a tall file before. It pops up as M11800 for a bit, then the printer detects that yes there is a USB drive connected, then tries to correct itself and resume the print.

Now so far it looks like unlike with the most recent firmware where it ended up offset when it corrected itself, ruining the print, with the downgrade it puts itself back on track. But the longer the print is the more often that bug pops up.

I already switched USB sticks to a higher quality one. Maybe the main board is overheating with the way longer prints. Or some other issue. But the firmware wasn't the root of this. And it only happens after many many hours into a print.

I don't know why I didn't notice till now but the Photon S has an absolutely massive and complete overkill z rail. It's like double the width of any other budget resin printer right now. Wow. Guess I know where the money saved from the plastic case went.

Wow. So a print just randomly stopped part way thru. Pretty sure it wasn't any mechanical or resin related issue. Took a look around the posts and people are having issue with the latest firmware. Dang it. Why did I update! So much resin wasted.

So after a few days with Epax non fep film on my original photon.. I'm a believer. It's almost like a cheat code. I can get away with way thinner supports that don't break away due to suction. Haven't had a single messed up first layer. Or even the lifting of super thin flat prints. It's almost like you don't even have to worry about suction forces at all. Maybe it's still too early to say, but wow am I impressed!

Here's a pic of the Anycubic test and I'm pretty sure if I was on Fep and my levelling wasn't perfect I would have had a corner lift off slightly or something. You can't see in the photo but all the numbers are down there and perfect too. So far I'd wager to say that of any upgrade the Epax has over the photon this film is probably the one that makes the biggest difference.
