Hi, i'm italian and i can say photon was really used in this process, not for final product, but for prototypes... The final version is "professionally" printed in Nylon SLS. The photon in the image was used for fast prototype in the reverse engineering phase.

Hahaha to all of jerks and know-it-alls that kept telling people in this forum to stop printing because it is bad... That is the worst case of "I know better than you because I'm not a scientist, but I play one on TV" that I've ever seen! And yes, I'm well aware these were prototypes.

how so? If they weren't used with people it seems they agree with the sentiment

read the post above they were prototyped on an Anycubic Photon. The final parts were SLS.

it doesn’t matter, these were prototypes and never used on people.

Nobody was ever upset about anyone printing a prototype. What we don't need is for people to print a ton of these on their Photon and send them to their local hospital, where they will go straight into the trash.

Badly spaced out the parts, the printbed could have easily housed 6 or 8 of them

My point..people... is that you telling somebody that they cannot do something like this is asinine. The authorities at the hospital will let them know what they can and can't do. You are not the authority and by you telling people that they can't do s
omething to try to help this pandemic tears other people down.
If somebody wants to help by doing something and it makes them feel better, then let them. they might also realize at some point that they need to use what they created as a prototype without so many assholes ripping them apart.. Stop tearing people down and let people feel better about trying to help.

I saw quite a few people just flat out tell someone that they are wasting their time in a pretty mean way. That isn't how people should be acting right now. Encouragement is what should lead people. Keyboard Warriors are damaging other people's mental health and right now that is not a good idea (it never really is...)

apologies I did not read your full post.
But when someone turns up at a hospital with a ropey design of mask printed from known hazardous material in an unproven way and says this is ace use it... Guess what... You have no idea what risk
you have exposed those people to, long or short term. That is not fair.
Print stuff that is not in the breathing air path, those face shield holders for example, they have a far lower risk. They are also more use as the virus can enter through they eyes too.
If you can't cope with criticism then don't ask for opinions. Not every idea is a good one and deservedly gets a kicking.

that is such a wrong way of looking at it. There is a MAJOR difference between constructive criticism and criticism. There has been very little of the former...

Some of those things being printed could cause more harm. Plus, you are trying up someone's time that should be helping others. The CORRECT way to go about it would be to have spoken with the hospital in advance to see if there was something to do. Not
just just print a 100 items that can't be used.
I haven't commented on any of this until now. But I'm sorry, you are wrong. Many of these people are causing more issues. If they want to help then that is great, ask the hospital how you can help. If people want to help, there are plenty of ways.

First off, you need take a few deep breaths cuz you are flipping out.
second, the comment about printing items that wont be used purely is about wasting one's personal time on on thing, when doing something else would be more beneficial.
Which is why i also mentioned asking the hospital for what they want first, not just printing something you thought they might need and then finding out they didnt. It could be as easy as a simple phone call. So whatever prints i make that i dont use really has nothing to do with the topic at all, because im not judging "wasted" plastic. Im specifically talking about hospital aid.
Third, i dont care about the article. I am not responding to the article. I am responding to your comments regarding people's criticism. They are very valid criticisms, for the reasons listed above.
TL;DR If you want to help, ask them what they need first. Dont make assumptions and waste your time or theirs.

I'm just calling you out on your inability to comprehend words...
tldr; let people do what they want; let them feel good for once, and for God's sake...read the article before you spout off rediculous crap. People can waste their own time the way they wish.

But i can see you are being purposely obtuse and have no intention of actually listening to other people.
