I am convinced that my printer has an april fools joke built in. I set everything up, first layer shows up and starts printing, I leave. I come back two hours later, don't hear any popping sounds so I press pause, and as the bed lifts up there's absolutely no print *anywhere*.

ARPIL FOOLS!

2020-04-02 02:29:44

There's really no other good explanation haha

Check your LCD and your level.

Everything's alright. It was a one time bug it seems.

Mi Ha Well at least there's that! Happy printing!

After doing an exposure test I found out the raised edges of the test that should be 1mm high are actually only 0.6mm. There was nothing left on the fep so my thinking is all the layers stuck ok. Any ideas?

I'm having a problem with the original photon slicer - I can't get it to slice the stl exported file from chitubox correctly. With the 5.0 firmware on the Photon S is it possible to print .photon files that chitubox exports? There's a lot of contradicting information about this, some say the compatibility has been restored and some say onle .pws files are supported.

Both files are compatible using fw 5.*

Mi Ha

awesome, thank you!

Rik de Reus

Erivelton Silva They are not using the newest fw.
They used to work. Then stopped working. Then beginning fw 5 they worked again and now they don't. That's why all the contradicting information.

Rik de Reus So with the latest firmware from the official website it's not working anymore?

Rik de Reus
2020-03-22 17:56:08

Mi Ha correct. It's not working for me with the lastest fw from the Anycubic website.

Rik de Reus , I'm using V5.02 with my Photon (not S) and .pws and .photon working normaly. Is there any difference between the S version and the common version?

Mi Ha

I just checked on mine and it's kinda random. Sometimes the .photon files show up and sometimes they don't. This is on 5.0.2 also.

Erivelton Silva
2020-03-22 21:34:09

Very strange .... for me, until now, the files generated by chitubox have always appeared.

So I'm having big trouble with printing the test cube on the photon S. This is what happens. It fails on the right side where it delaminated. I've tried three times, two times with stock settings and the third time with the print offset to the left and with lowered lift speed to 2 mm/s, nothing helped - it always fails at the same exact spot. Any ideas?

resin settings pls.go through your trouble shooting steps. do a screen test to make sure the screen is good. relevel, make sure you didnt overfill and got resin in the ball joint

Bartholomew Isard

Not sure if it is your photo or not but it looks like your printing plate isnt level. Other wise i would ask if the whole photon is level.

Nathan Kopp
2020-03-21 14:12:09

also filter resin, check for floatys and stuff stuck to the screen

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:14:46

stock settings, file straight off the anycubic website - 8 sec exposure, 3mm/s lift speed, 60s bottom exposure, 3 bottom layers

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:15:22

I don't think the leveling is a problem because I have no problem with it sticking to the build plate, in fact I had trouble getting it off.

Nathan Kopp
2020-03-21 14:15:35

Mi Ha do 8 bottom

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:15:57

But the bottom is not a problem at all?

Nathan Kopp
2020-03-21 14:18:32

Mi Ha could be. means only .15mm of your base is super solid. try bringing layer base up to 9 or 10

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:18:50

Ok will try that.

Nathan Kopp
2020-03-21 14:19:08

is your resin expired? i got a load of exspired resin from anycubic that effected the cure time

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:19:46

Nathan Kopp No, the date on it says september 2020.

Nathan Kopp
2020-03-21 14:20:40

lol if its off by a small amount it can. or its shifting cause the ball joint is lubed. like i said start trouble shooting at the basics or everyone is just going to guess

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 14:20:50

I got another bottle of anycubic grey, maybe worth trying if that one would be any better?

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 15:24:29

Nathan Kopp I'll try to relevel.

John Chrapkowski
2020-03-21 15:49:48

Did you do the standard sacrifice to the printer gods or the enhanced?

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 15:50:25

can't say that i have, what's the protocol?

John Chrapkowski
2020-03-21 15:56:20

Mi Ha ok it’s a bit involved. First You need to strip down to your undergarments.. lol!

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 15:57:02

John Chrapkowski we're under quarantine, i've been like this for the whole week!

Rich Harrison

I'd say maybe a levelling issue or your fep needs tightening slightly? I've also had fails dew to the desk my photon was on wasn't level and so used a spirit level to double check. Not sure if it's the pic but the resin in your vat looks deeper on one side than the other. Could it be that your printer itself needs reorientating? The legs of the printer are adjustable. Hope this helps!

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 19:32:07

Hmm, that might be the case, i'll double check. Thanks for the suggestion!

Rich Harrison
2020-03-21 19:37:01

Mi Ha no probs

Jeff Greenfield
2020-03-21 23:00:02

Rich Harrison legs or feet on the S are not adjustable.

Rich Harrison
2020-03-21 23:00:55

Jeff Greenfield oh really? I rely on that quite a lot

Jeff Greenfield
2020-03-21 23:06:28

Rich Harrison unfortunately just rubber feet with glue. I was expecting them to be like the original photon, but was disappointed. Had to build a shelf to put it on and leveled the shelf.

Mi Ha
2020-03-21 23:21:06

yeah just checked, no adjustable legs but it's not a big deal.

Rich Harrison
2020-03-22 00:09:27

Mi Ha might not be the problem anyway. Hope you figure it out!

Mi Ha
2020-03-22 00:13:11

I actually just added 2 tiny supports at the spot where it broke before and so far (80% done) it looks perfect.

Rich Harrison
2020-03-22 00:21:31

Mi Ha ah nice. However, this shouldn't be necessary with the test cube so just keep the problem in mind for further print fails. Happy printing!!

Mi Ha
2020-03-22 00:24:07

indeed! I think I might revisit this (without supports) when it gets a little warmer and/or I change the resin.
