Long time lurker, first time poster. The Mister has purchased the Photon, which should be here in time for my birthday next week! I feel confident we should be able to get it out of the box and running in no time, thanks to all your wonderful contributions. So excited! ?

Here's how to check the reference voltage of the board stepper driver.

Driver is a Polulu with the Alegro Chip A4988 set for 1/16 microstepping

The motor is a 42HD4027-04 with 1.5A/Phase

Can't do the math at this time of night but my printer is reading 1.07 that sound about right to me

UPDATE: for the alegro integrated drives the math goes like this: 1.5A x 0.8 => 1.2v ref, so anything from 1.0 to 1.2 should be ok

Popped a ESP-01 into the slot just to see what it did. As expected no menu change on the Photon, but the ESP boots and also show up in the wireless and we can connect to it

I'm thinking eventually pop the esp in a arduino configure it to access your home network and check if it can probe anything from the serial com port

My old Eyes have a VERY hard to almost impossible time to read the amount of time left printing. The font is so tiny and the blue on white has very little contrast.

Is there a way to make this more visible ?

Ok gang, calling in for assistance... topic: making the Photon print faster...

Was just chatting with Caleb and mentioned this Elven Huntress took over 24 hours and is almost 4” tall, and he said he could bang that out in 5 hours or so... (yes, I know she has cleanup, shoosh ? )

My settings were .02/12/1/60/10 and I was using the Monocure Rapid grey.

I know I’ve seen bits of information here on how to speed things up by limiting the height the z screw raises between layers, adjusting peel speed etc. Now that I’ve had a chance to play around with the printer, I’m a bit more prepared to tinker...

So if you please, fire away below with ways to improve speed. I’m sure I’ll ask for more help on some of the methods, but let’s see what we can come up with...

And most important of all... thank you all in advance for your help!

Yes, we’ve seen the Elven Huntress before, nothing new here...

I scaled her up, and after 24 hours of printing, this is what I have with the Monocure Rapid grey. After some cleanup work I’ll prime, airbrush the skin and hand paint the rest. This should be fun!
