Hi all, we at FunToDo Resins currently own 2 Photons in our lab. We do a lot of testing of our resins of these machines. One is still new, the other has been printing for 3 weeks now round the clock, no problems whatsoever! We think this is quite an achievement for such an affordable printer.

Since FTD resin is still out of stock everywhere I've had to order some monocure. Ordered red, anyone got any experience with it? I've only used grey in the past.

2nd attempt worse than the first
Latest one is the wanhao white
Wondering if the side pieces are being off of the base with the weight as the piece grows.
Not sure how I combat that?
Supports in theory reduce the # of contact points. I'm stumped.

I feel an introduction is in order.

I'm Sean Huxter, a Technical Artist for a game company, and an avid Science Fiction fan and tinkerer. I have been designing toys since I was a kid, and wish these printers existed back then. What a different world it would have been.

I started with my first Afinia H480 in 2013. Not long after, I won a design contest, and won a second Afinia H480 printer.

I got to talking to a rep for a catalog collector action figure company and showed him some of my toys, and since then we have been designing and selling toys printed with FDM printers in ABS with full working parts, scaled to a 1:6 action figure. I now own 6 of those printers. (my original is down, only due to a broken power connector on the motherboard.)

But I really have been hoping to get an SLA and just a couple of weeks ago I saw some very impressive prints done on the Photon and asked the guy what printer it was. Less than a week later it arrived at my door, and now I'm having a blast printing awesome high-detail things.

I hope to learn a lot here.

Can someone outline the proper cleaning procedure? With materials and times?

Here's what I'm doing, based on a video I saw:

1) I drop the prints directly into an isopropyl alcohol bath. For a few minutes

2) I lift it out, then put it in a second, cleaner isopropyl alcohol bath. For a few minutes

3) I light it with a curing light for a few minutes.

My problem is that tonight I put a piece in the second bath for quite some time. In fact, I went to supper, came back, and some of my uprights had split off and I wondered if it was oversoaking.

First, yes I did look in the files section and read through the text files. It's possible I missed this, but where do you guys buy your resin? As in least expensive (I try to avoid saying 'cheapest)... From what I am seeing so far it's looking like around $80 US for a liter. I did see 5ltr containers of Monocure for $264 ($52 a liter),

Just curious what you guys use and where you get it.
