Well. I had a day off on Monday. I finally took apart my Photon to put in a third screen. Thankfully it came apart fine.
But why is this machine so damned hard to install things in?
The four screws that hold the case go into these little troughs so if you can't get the screws back all the way to the other part with an allen key (provided) it falls into the trough and is nearly impossible to retrieve.
To put the screen in, I slid the ribbon into the slot on the red flat table, and of course it doesn't just go down to where it's needed, it has to be pushed over a wall so the ribbon can reach the connector. Which you may not know until it becomes harder to do.
Removing the UV pyramid is equally frustrating as the other screws. The allen key provided is JUST long enough to remove the back two screws, but not long enough to ensure they get to go back in easily.
Putting the unit back together is incredibly frustrating as the bottom doesn't align easily to the sides, and you have to get those screws in perfectly through two holes to the body, without losing them in the interior again.
But dammit, with some incredibly sticky double-sided tape, I managed to get the new screen in.
My FEP was really cruddy so I replaced that. Luckily the video Anycubic provides on YouTube is amazing. It worked like a charm. The tightness of the FEP using that Coke bottle cap is amazing. Like it was done professionally.
I did a new print in Anycubic Green and it failed. Dammit! I haven't had a successful print on this thing for over a year.
So I found it may have been a corrupt file.
I put a different file on the bed that was NOT corrupt, and ...
IT WORKED!!!
I mean it printed really nice!
Today I used my first bit of Monocure Clear and it printed! PROPERLY!
Ok... I may be back...
