Photon is acting up. I start a new print job and after the first layer is done it beeps but the build platform doesn't move. The UV light and screen then goes to the next layer. If I cancel the print job I am unable to raise/lower the platform. If I turn the Photon off/on again I can move it fine until I try printing, and the same thing happens again. Any ideas? Is my unit dead already after two weeks? :(

Is anyone using a 3D scanner or photogrammetry as part of their process to create print files? If so, what method, software, and equipment are you using?

After some discussion on led power and size, made another cure box using same idea with solo panels (inside the lid) for turning a display plate. Sorry for the blinding light, it is 24 watt leds

Thanks for the add :)

I am brand new to 3D printing and the Anycubic Photon, so I am going to have a ton of questions. I will try my best to search the web and this page for answers but I may ask something that was already covered, so please be gentle lol :)

My first question... and yes I have looked on the web but didn't find a definitive answer.. What types of resins can I use and what is the best place price wise to buy resin from?

Hi Everyone, I don't know if this has been covered yet as I scrolled down through the pages and have not found anything on this. That or I'm going blind. Anyway, what are you using to posture your prints? I have heard of UV finger nail curing ovens and cardboard boxes lined with aluminum foil and a UV lamp clipped to the side. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm assuming that timing would be dictated by the resin manufacturer of the particular resin that one is using. Clear as mud right?

Anyone know whether I should replace the FEP, or print around this blemish? No idea how it happened. But it's been like that since about my second print. I haven't used anything but the plastic spatula and made sure to keep it flat and gentle. It's a whitish spot in the middle, also feels indented in one side and outward on the bottom.

Wish I were a better photographer. The photo doesn't do the photons resolution justice. A pair of humanoid turtles, D&D scale. just need a pond or dock to put them on.

flickering screen issues:

While printing I was getting random rectangular chunks of exposed resin on the build plate or the vat (or sometimes embedded half way in a print) or parts that simply fell off as the layers were randomly shifting.

Was kind of intermittent so dry running the printer and timelapsing was the only way to catch it misbehaving.

I believe this was caused by electrical interference from either dirt between the solder joints or the proximity of the ribbon cable to the mainboard - it was stuck down pretty tight with tape and was in direct contact with solder joints on the bottom.

Resolved by removing ribbon cable from LCD to mainboard. Cleaning mainboard and LCD connector thoroughly with isopropyl and a clean soft brush - removed adhesive residue (with lighter fluid) from the tape that was holding the ribbon cable to the mainboard. Insulated the black rear side of the ribbon cable with electrical tape as there's no easy way to route the cable without it touching something on the board.

I'm pretty confident dismantling, cleaning and reassembling electronics but I wouldn't recommend this an easy user fix.

Ok here is a trade secret and life hack that will save you cash and time.

Your painting a large model and have mixed your acrylics and they all dry out and you can never get it quite right especially on hot days right?

Well fear not gentle Photonsters I am about to change your life get an air tight tub the sort you get from take away's (take out joints) you know, the low flat ones with the resealable lids

in the bottom of the tub place a few layers of kitchen roll cut to fit the tub and wet it so it's quite damp (but not swimming)

Step 3: cut a piece of grease proof paper and lay it on top of the now damp tissue or kitchen roll paper.

now mix your paints on the grease proof and when you stop painting close the lid and burp most of the air out when you do.

This will keep you acrylics wet and usable for days even longer if you have mixed in a little gel retarder fluid too.

There! A pro tip from uncle Flinty, Don't say I never gave ya nuffin.

now go print stuff ya young whipper snappers and stay the hell off my lawn, I know your parents!!! mumble mumble.....
