THE SCREEN SEALING ISSUE!!
Hi all, well my printer arrived late last night and I'm keen to drive right in BUT all this talk of resin & screens failing etc makes me a little worried.
I understand it's all kinda R&D ? ? but has there being any progress made with say the thin Sellotape, Flint Read mentioned, around the screens edge, which seems the quickest & simplest idea, and not effected the print quality?
Prevention is always better than cure!

I've done 3 prints so far with the Photon. 2 of them show major layer shifting especially the latest one. I don't see any sign that supports broke or came loose. The print was very solidly held in place on the build plate. I had a hard time getting it off. The layer shift is major. Like a millimeter or more and it is warped leading up to and after it. Could this be a z problem? People mentioned using a bearing. Could someone tell me what kind to get and maybe show a photo of what it looks like installed? I love the printer. If I can fix this issue it will be more than what I wanted. I can't really go farther with testing until I fix this. Both prints seem to have had it happen around the same height. Everything has been tightened and secured. Both prints are hollow.

Do you guys hollow every print, or only larger ones? And if only larger ones, what's your size threshold?

I'm looking at printing a 2 inch lion model. In the interest of saving resin I want to hollow, but if I hollow I have to worry about internal supports. Thoughts?

EDIT: This is the model in question:

Lesson learned today: always hollow large prints.

I kicked off a good sized print of Hogwarts during lunch today, and after being back at the office about an hour i started to be concerned about how much resin it would consume before i got back to check it.

Well, turns out that wasn't what i should have been worried about. With the model being solid the print became heavy on the build plate and started to peel away on one side. I came home to find the build plate tweaked, but still running (sorry no pic).

I had some mild panic as i stopped the print and raised the plate expecting to see a crushed screen. What i found was shocking... NO DAMAGE!

I got lucky and learned a valuable, and costly in wasted resin, lesson today.

Then this came out of the soup... ?
Well time to review support structures on this one. My mentor always said, " If something is learned, how can there be a mistake."
