Ok Photonsters, new and old alike here is a clean up schedule that works and leaves no nasty white marks on your prints...

First off: WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES WHILE DOING THIS AS PHILIPPE POINTED OUT WE ARE MESSING WITH CHEMICALS BOYS AND GIRLS, SAFETY FIRST.

Make sure that for washing your prints you use only 99% pure IPA as anything less is sold for household cleaning and is bulked out with distilled water and the resin will not play well with water at this stage.

drop the finished print in enough IPA to cover it and go clean the rest of your machine pour resin back in bottle etc.etc. every now and then turn the print and or agitate it a bit (swill it around in there) once your all cleaned up come on back to the print and with a soft nylon toothbrush you can scrub it in the IPA to get rid of uncured resin.

This will not get rid of absolutely all the wet resin just 90 percent of it, That's why we move on to step two.

STEP TWO:

now you want to let the IPA dry off you can dab it with a paper towel and blow on it or use compressed air or nick your partners hair dryer these are all good choices (depending on your partners demeanor towards nicking his or her stuf! But hey that's on you right?)

Then once it's dry you need to get it wet but it's hydrophobic (it does not play well with water when it's uncured) so you have to use soapy water to wash it clean and get rid of the last of the wet resin.

the soap helps because one end of the soap molecule is hydrophylic and the other end is hydro phobic so the hydrophylic bit crabs hold of the water and the hydrophobic end grabs the hydrophobic resin and so you can scrub it clean and remove the last of the resin without the water messing up the finish. THAT'S SCIENCE BABY!

Ok, so you can now take your clean beautiful print and cure it with day light or UV your choice and happy printing Photonsters, DO NOT forget to share and show us what you have been up to we love that stuff here.

OK new Photonsters, two things you're gonna hear a lot are FEP and IPA don't worry you have not gone suddenly dyslexic or anything (unless you, like me already were) IPA is simply isopropol alcohol (Americans call it rubbing alcahol, Not sure why maybe Americans just like rubbing things more?) It's important to get as pure as you can as anything under 99% will be loaded with water and that's not good for your prints surface,

and FEP is just the clear film that sits in the bottom of your tank it was invented and is still licenced by the DuPont company and is basically a clear sheet ot Teflon that stops the print sticking to the base of the vat but lets UV (Ultra violet) light pass through and harden your resin.
