Admins remove if not allowed - our model club (Prison City Modelers, Leavenworth, KS) has a couple of 3D printing enthusiasts (okay, me and another guy), and we wanted a place that was dedicated to melding the two hobbies of modeling and 3D printing/designing, where people can get together and combine their skills to improve our scale modeling and diorama results. There is no "personal gain" to be had, other than people connecting and sharing original 3D files or getting together to design and print custom parts for models, dioramas, or even designing and printing simple replacement parts for older kits! So, running with this idea, I created a private group dedicated solely to these ends. I JUST made it, so it's not well-established, but I think it is something both hobbies need. The main reason I got into 3D printing was to support my modeling "habit", and now I just have another habit! No copyrighted or trademarked files are allowed - only original files by the designers. So, if anyone is interested in connecting, sharing, and promoting the melding of these two hobbies, feel free to apply and contribute! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1395491567277803/?fref=nf 翻譯年糕

I think I've found the perfect resin cleaner!

It's a 50-50 mix of 99% IPA and Propylene Glycol!

After a very quick agitate and wash in the mixture, I then submerge in JUST IPA for a couple of minutes, agitate a bit, then pull the piece and allow it to air dry. NO RESIN LEFT! Sure, you can blow it dry as well.

Oh, and I have not changed or had to "filter" either my mixture or the IPA wash in over a month of printing! It's almost as if the mixture just "deletes" the uncured resin! I know that's not what is happening, but there is no cloudiness, and it looks like the propylene glycol sticks to the resin and it sinks to the bottom of the wash vat and stays there until seriously agitated.

I'm very happy right now!

Just musing here, but do you think placing a silicone mold on top of a sonic cleaner that is on (on the lid) while pouring resin into a silicone mold, would help eliminate small bubbles in the resin while it settles? Or, maybe even st INSIDE the empty sonic cleaner?

Like I said, just musing here...

Some of you may remember my earliest posts touting the Photon and its printing abilities. Well, that lasted for about a month. The machine died after 5 weeks of printing, and I have not fixed it, because it is, essentially, a poorly-built and engineered printer. Once you make the decision to fix anything, it's all downhill from there. I dont believe I will ever use this printer again, so I will not be following this group any more. After owning the sturdy, well-made Phrozen Shuffle, I just can't bring myself to waste time repairing and printing with the Photon. The more I read here, I'm afraid I will just be cynical and combative. So, with that in mind, have fun trying to get a poorly-made resin printer to print decent prints, and God Bless anyone who says they never have a problem with their Photon. They are the exception, not the rule. I now realize I could NEVER have printed something like below, even with a brand new Photon.

Well, mission complete! I have finished FIVE of these sets! Just under 1500 pieces. I'm doing the final sealing of the last two sets tonight. Here are some pics of one of the sets.

I had some crappy Nova3D grey resin, so I decided to play with it on an old model I did supports on over 8 months ago. I added the Nova3D, which I never really got dialed-in, to some Anycubic Black, bumped the exposure time to 12 sec/layer, and this is the result - a beautiful true gunmetal gray that looks gorgeous! Ratio was 3 parts black to 1 part grey. It really does seem to pick up detail well, and there is a bit of flex that isn't there with the Anycubic black. I include the pick with all the supports, because I created this support months ago using B9 creator, long before I got Formare, and when I was still learning how to orient and support efficiently. I just thought the amount of support was humorous.

Hey all! Posted a little tutorial video over on the Photonsters YouTube channel for salvaging imperfect prints and strengthening intricate parts of a print. Until it uploads there, watch it here. https://youtu.be/TQ66oZjMN5c

Enjoy!
