Ok folks, I need some input on a couple things.

Orientation, this is what Prusa Slicer keeps giving me. Not sure on the overhangs if they will work or not.

2nd thing is still the same model, just scaled up. I need to cut it in half to fit in the Photon, any tips to keep it from warping all to hell?

3rd i see a couple spots where the supports have gone through the model, any way I can reduce that?

I would try laying it flat and let chitubox do the supports. See where it exceeds the boundaries and cut there, you'll stand a better chance of no warping. Your print time will be quicker. Choose the side for supports that will be least visible.

That overhang will print, a helpful tip is that a standing X shape will almost always print, so a perfect 45 degrees is pretty safe as long as you have good build plate adhesion.

I got some model files the other day and they are huge. when I import into Meshmixer it crawls like molasses in freezing weather. Chitubox wont load it and Prusa slicer is really slow. Nettfabb wont allow it to upload because of the file size. I just want to hollow and add drain holes but Meshmixer does not like it and that's the only way I know how to reduce it.

Anyone have alternate suggestions? I know its not my computer, I opened multiple other files and no issues.

Following, because I have a file with similar issues.

How large is the file?

Scott Pavlich one of the files 427.5mb

All the files in this model are acting like this. Thought maybe something was wrong and tried sending to nettfabb. It won’t accept it because it’s over the 400mb.

I finally got Meshmixer to crawl through and reduce the file size.
427.5MB > 225.2MB

Hoping it doesn't affect the print resolution, guess I'll have to reduce all the files so it looks the same just in case.

Quinn Mehling While you’re computer might be fine, many times the weak link is with the graphics card. I’ve had to update all my cad computers over the years to handle ever increasing cad files. Any 3D model is math- intensive so that, RAM, and a fast processor make life a lot easier on large files

thought about that too, currently running 2, ATI HD5770 Mac editions

probably wouldn't hurt to up them. haven't had too many issues running Zbrushcore or Maya.

Did you solve the problem by reducing the file size? Having the same issue atm

Tyron Craft I believe so, I had to reduce it quite a bit. The render looks ok but I’m going to print it today on the photon and see how the quality is.

Well it survived 10 months and 19 days. Guess it’s time to bite the bullet and change the fep.

Printed a brick due to supports failing.

Hope I have the same luck this run.

Btw 17, 1L bottles and 9, 250g bottles on this fep.

Has anyone that uses the Anycubic aqua blue noticed on models that are keyed that parts seems to distort on the “keyed” post. Not sure if it’s settings or orientation. I’ve only noticed it on the blue and not on other colors.

Is there any way to reload the .photon files for information ie. scale and orientation?

I need to reprint a part that I made several months ago due to it breaking and I can’t remember what scale and orientation I used for the life of me.

So what does everyone do for cleaning the vat and build plate really good. I’m going from anycubic aqua to a translucent red. I want to clean it up good and not have any leftover resin mixed in.

So what is everyone doing when when you have to print a large base for a model? are you sectioning it and printing on the Photon or printing via FDM?

Curious at how well quartered pieces will print and fit up. I have FDM printers, just iffy about the sizing differences between slicers.

No fault of the Photon’s, I didn’t add enough supports which is why I have warping and shrinking. But I just wanted to show that not all prints that aren’t perfect are trash.

The other day there was thread about what to use for joining resin pieces and repairs. I thought this would be a good example. Keep in mind I’m not fully done with the repair and it will get painted. Hopefully it’ll help someone out.

I used a dab of resin to join the 2 parts together and cured. Then I filled as much of the seams using a toothpick and old model paint brush, cured. The large gaps I used single ply paper towel and tissue paper and resin. I use an old brush to add layers and spread it out so it’s not quite so bulky.

Anyone know if a hollow part can be deformed safely with a heat gun? Cured or uncured
