Hey all and thanks for the add! Just got my photon in the mail and set up. The first test print came out like this-- the middle bar is missing / appears melted, with a fair amount of flash.

Current theories include: fep too tight, crappy anycubic usb, botched bottle of green resin.

I'm very confident in my leveling, but will try to relevel as a test case. Switching usb and updating to .18 firmware.

Before I waste more resin, can anyone come up with a good theory why this would have happened? Why one center bar is messed up but the rest of the model, along all those same layers, is fine?

Thanks! Always intimidating to ask for help. This is my first foray into 3D printing. If you can point me to some kind of cheat sheet of common problems and their fixes, that'd be appreciated and probably keep me from posting too many failed prints! :)

I tried putting Simon's dual rail upgrade in, and the anti-backlash nut has jammed on the z stepper thread, and I can't get it off again. SO. I'm going to have to cut the backlash nut off and likely replace the z stepper. Where can one buy a new z stepper for the Photon? At the moment, I'm less than thrilled, since I'll have spent a lot more on this machine than a new Epax after this.

So so close to get a great print now, but query is it possible to get rid of the swirls and make it smoother how would I acheive this? This is so addictive I've almost used a bottle already ?

This is my 2nd attempt to print this part. This time I had to pause the print and most of the supports on the left side failed to recover from that. The bottom part which came out curved due to lack of support looks much better as I have added a bunch of them however other parts like the top cross cutout are still not 100% good and it seems I need to add even additional supports. I am wondering if I should simply increase the support density and let ChiTuBox run automatically or that will never be good enough?

Improvements from previous attempt: longer "off" time of 3.5 seconds. 10 base layers rather than 6 with 80 seconds on time.
