OK, inching toward first test prints on the blue window photon i brought back from the dead. Which will be my first resin prints ever. Just FDM printing so far for me.

Went to try the Flint Reed method of leveling and the build plate arm bottoms out on the side of the vat while there is still lots of play in the build plate.

I disassembled and cleaned the whole ball joint assembly and there was some resin in there but it wasn't hardened.

The FAQ doesn't mention this.

Is there something about the build of the machine i should check before i just go ahead and install some washers between the build plate and the piece that connects it to the ball joint?

So I grabbed it of the printer today before work and gave it a quick wash.

The foot didnt come out well you can see the layers separating.

These were the settings.

Amazing detail. Printed 45 degree

Any help on setting would be great. Days of soon so I can finaly spend some time on it.

Is this possible?
I want to reduce the power [current] of the Z axis motor on a photon. To make levelling safer for the screen.

looking at the control board it seems to have a motor controller that is adjusted via software not hardware. does anyone have an idea if this can be done by injecting some g-code or it requires a whole different firmware?

My plan/theory, after powering on the machine set it in safe mode [low current/motor power], get the machine to lower the level build platform down into the FEP and let the motor skip steps. Now we are at zero and resting on the FEP, we turn the motor power back to default and print from this Z=0 position.

This should stop me being an idiot and breaking the screen during calibration.
