Here's a great way to prime prints with no loss of detail and no rattle cans!

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an Anycubic Photon printer and cannot get it to print. It printed successfully three times of the past 30 prints. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong.

I re-level the build platform almost every time. I've watched the set-up video on the AnyCubic website and tried various distances with paper leveling (can barely pull the paper out, can only pull the paper and not push, can push and pull the paper).

I was using the Anycubic Photon Slicer v1.3.3 for most of the tests, but I just installed v1.3.6.

Remove build plate from the machine, place it on a paper towel, scrape the failed print from the platform into the trash. I spray the platform with 99% IPA, wipe with paper towel until it is clean, return it to the printer and tighten the knob to secure it.

I loosen the two knobs to remove the resin vat, remove it, and filter the uncured resin through a 190 micron funnel into a clean glass. I replace the vat with a clean one and pour the filtered resin (Anycubic Gray) into the vat. I'm using regular exposure settings from the Resin XP test that seems to print just fine every time (14-16s for 0.05mm) and guessing at the other settings. 4-10 bottom layers, 50-120s cure time, 2-6.5 off time. I thought temperature might be an issue, so I moved the printer from an area where it was 70 degrees to where it's 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

I've tried with and without supports. Lately, I've been trying things that have worked in the past (3D Benchy 20-40% size, treefrogs 20% size). The most recent time I leveled, I used a paper that was about 0.1mm thick and set Z=0 where I could push with some effort and still pull the paper out.

I'm working with two separate resin vats. I sanded my build plate slightly, and can still see the blue color. I just printed a Resin XP test, and it printed perfectly without leaving cured resin attached to the FEP film. The printer itself is level on a hard surface where it is sturdy.

I'm open to any suggestions.

So I finally did my first print on my Photon. :)

I ended up printing the 3DBenchy, but I had different prints I was thinking of first, like the eifeltower or my makercoin.

But there is some small dots on the print, there where te support was attached to it.
How do you get those off?
Do you sand it or what do you do.

B.t.w. I made a video of my first print. Please enjoy my messy attempt with resin and the cleanup. :)

Something I've noticed it that most of my prints with hollow flat bases come out of the printer fine, but after curing, the bases bow outward from the bottom, making them unstable and unbalanced. They do have drainage holes. Anyone know a resolution besides sanding it flat after curing?

Well Phonsters,

After months of waiting, I finally (yesterday) got a UV exposure that is correct.

I started a print in anycubic yellow, and left for work.

When I got back, there was not a finished mini, so I checked the vat and low-and-behold there was some cured resin in there.

I scraped it off this morning, re-leveled, closer to the LCD this time, then changed my settings to 0.025, 14, 1, 90, 8.

We will see how this works now. 6 hours for this mini! WOW!
I appreciate all the support this group has put out there for me! Anycubic support, while slow (it's 1/2 the world away) did take care of me as well, so thank you to them too.

Now the journey begins!
