Torture test

Hi,

I made this "torture" piece based on the failures I was getting with the Photon.

I realized "holes" become less and less defined the more exposure time they get.

Isolated details below 0.47mm (470um) are not printed.
Long details with width of 0.047mm (47um) (the printer stated resolution) are printed but end up measuring 0.30mm (300um)

10 by 10mm strutuctures on the corners measure 10.32mm x 10.32mm, and 5 by 5mm structure in the middle measure 4.83x4.83mm

So, on the periphery details are augmented, in the middle they are reduced.

Concentrated details clump together if there is less than 0.47mm (470um) between them. But print just fine is at least 2x 0.47mm in between.

Holes and cuts on the base are never well printed or close to true values.

Unsupported structures print better the thinner they are (strangely,..)

This is a torture test. I was not expecting to get good results, I just want to expose the weaknesses so we can try and find ways to overcome them.

I join in annex the .IPT file and .STL if anyone wants to try to print it. I would be very thankful if anyone can add on this with some knowledge on the subject and possible improvements.

Resin used was Anycubic White.

Parameters were;

Layer: 0.05mm
Normal Expose Time: 12sec
Off-time: 1sec
Bottom Expose Time: 55sec
Bottom Layer: 4

I realize those are long expose times and might adversely quality, again I was not expecting success but assessing the limits.

Thank you.

Finally got a successful print with Nova3D white after using up the whole bottle testing. Settings used are layer height
: .04, normal layer: 15, base layer: 70, off time: 6.5, 8 base layers

Edit: May need to use thinner supports or lower the layer time slightly as the supports were very hard to remove without damaging the figure.

Latest version of Formware 3D has direct .photon export. I know not a lot of people use it, but thought it would be worth mentioning :)

Hi peeps.
Had my printer a few weeks, gone through my 250ml of green and half way through my 500ml of white i purchased at the same time.
I printed something functional the other day to then find out it isnt functional as the sizes came out wrong.
My question is is there a better resins to use with less shrinkage? Does the colour affect it? Any information/recommendations as to what you use for parts that have tight tolerances would be appreciated.

HI all, new to photon printing and am having some issues.... 2 things are happening 1. some of the prints are not sticking to the bed, and I find either the raft or a barely started print stuck on the bottom of the vat. 2. the supports are wavy.... any idea what is going on?

I broke my LCD. So far, from Ultimate3dprintingstore, I've gotten two replacement screens that are pre-cracked. Is there another US reseller for these screens - at a similar price? I know I can get them from China and Europe and UK but I would preferr not to wait that long. Thanks.

Could this be a good curing station for 19€ ? Right wave length and wattage (23W)?

Hi, guys. I am printing some scale models of agricultural equipment in 1/32 scale, but having problems with shrinkage that bend the parts. I have asked a similar kind of question earlier, and that solved most of my problems, apart for these models. I am afraid it is the shape of the models that is to blame. If they would have had a bar at the bottom to hold the two vertical beams together, it would probably not be a problem. But since the "real" equipment is like this, I also have to make the model this way.
The parts are perfectly straight after printing and curing.

I have tried this:
- Curing with supports in place, then painting as quicly as possible to prevent more UV-light to cure them.
- Warming the parts with a hot-air gun and straightening them out. This works great a while, but after some hours it's back to a warped shape. I used a jig/mold to make sure they got perfectly straight.

I am using FTD Industrial Black. 0,035 / 7,5 / 4,5 / 50 / 8

I wonder if it might be the paint that affects them?
