Made my first print last night, it went pretty well, but then this morning I wanted to try supports generated by mesh mixer, and it's failed twice.

After 4-5 layers, the printer beeps and then turns the fan off. I took out the vat and plate and spent ~45 minutes cleaning both out with IPA, but it just did the same thing again. Does anyone know why that would happen? I don't even know *why* it stopped.

ADVICE/QUESTION:

Hi gang, new guy here, so first off, thanks for the add.

Next, no better way to jump right in than with a question eh?

I'm part of a miniatures and gaming group who has a 3D modeling background, and the group said "We should all pitch in and get you a printer, then you can make stuff for us, etc..."

So doing my research I set my sights on the XYZprinting Nobel 1.0a SLA 3D Printer, with the Anycubic Photohon as my #2 choice. I saw the funding campaign start to lose momentum and dropped my goal down and made the Photon my primary focus (hence joining this group).

Well now one backer has thrown me a ridiculous amount of cash (like a car payment... crazy guy) and told me he'd prefer me to stay focused on the YXZ Nobel 1.0A, and stay with SLA and not go DLP.

So my question to you fine folks is this: Is you could snap your fingers and have either unit, which would you go with?

My gut is still saying to go with the Photon, because after doing my research it seems to me the operating costs of the SLA printer FAR outweigh the operating costs of the DLP Photon. Like replacement reservoirs for the Nobel cost $150 alone... vs the $35 to replace the FEP on the Photon.

So, please, give me your unabashed feedback so I can make the smartest purchase possible. My gut still says the DLP Photon is the way to go, but maybe I'm just crazy...

The original file had errors in the supports and was not smooth so I smoothed it out and corrected the supports.

Monocure Rapid Clear @ 60s/8/12/1.

The print came out very clear, washed only with 99% IPA and cured for 210 seconds.
