I love this little printer. The only problems I've had so far have been related to firmware. Twice I've had to "brush" the firmware (a term from their support team that I take to mean "clean out"). The first time it was because the z axis, fan, and UV light stopped working all at the same time. Yesterday it was because the z axis started operating very very slowly. I had to cancel the print because the z axis was moving painfully slow. I'd love to see a little more focus on firmware issues and stability. I have no idea how it gets into this state where it starts acting weird and needs to be "brushed".

I've been using formware (trial) and it seems pretty ok. I could dig around the resources here but I'm looking for opinions about what you don't like about it if you have tried it. I don't mind the price so much and I have not yet taken the time to personally try all of the other ones. Just the Anycubic and Formware so far.

I'm curious about the interface between the FEP film and the model, where the rubber hits the road so to speak. The film seems like a compromise from the ideal. The ideal would seem to be a rigid perfectly non stick surface rather than a flexible one, unless a slight flexibility helps the layer un-stick and move away from the film. I have an idea to take a thin tempered glass screen protector the size of the vat, place the vat with FEP film on top of it, and literally glue the FEP film to the thin glass using an optically clear UV curable glue. So the result would be a lamination of a very thin glass screen protector and FEP film. The film should then not stretch or wear as bad, and could possibly periodically be treated with teflon spray or Neverwet or another superhydrophobic coating. I have ordered a spare vat to experiment with. Has anyone here tried re-lubricating the film, or does it just stretch out before losing it's non-stick properties?

Hi all. I'm new to the group. I've had my printer since 12/20/18, and all was going well until yesterday when it stopped printing (unable to start a new print). The z-axis would not move up/down, the fan would not come on, and the UV/LCD test would not work. The progress screen showed that it thought it was printing, but nothing was happening. It already had the same firmware version that was on their website, so I downgraded/upgraded the firmware again, with no change. I contacted support, and they promptly sent me a new firmware package to try. This resolved the issue and I'm printing again with less than 1 day down time. I was pretty bummed out to see it fail but their support team quickly came through with a solution.
