Hi Folks, Is anyone familiar with installing chitubox on Mac??

Thanks,

I didn't notice anything special when I installed it. Drag and drop into the Applications folder like any other program.

I had the exact same experience as Benjamin Fox

Thanks, System preferences were blocking it, now sorted (i hope) cheers.

go to your system preference to allow installation

all done and working mate. Cheers.

I have to manually allow it to run every time I start my computer.

Hi folks, these are my printed stands for the photon S, based on the conversations on here about improving airflow under the printer, essential? Probably not, but every little bit helps.

嗨, 朋友們, 這些是我的光子s印表台, 根據這裡關於改善印表機下的氣流的對話, 必要嗎? 也許不是, 但每一點點都有幫助.

Dont you run the risk of toppling it?

Paul Metcalfe

Not really, the feet are bigger than the originals and a tight fit to the legs, CofG is 30mm higher but still below the centreline of the printer.

Is the stl available?

I put my printer on a metal baking sheet and never had a problem with air flow. Plus, I never had to worry about spills.

Jim Appleby
2020-03-17 09:37:05

how does a bake sheet raise the printer?

Jim Nelson
2020-03-17 09:59:04

Jim Appleby The printer has feet, albeit small ones, and it doesn't require raising. Putting it on a metal sheet keeps the area underneath the printer free from obstruction, in my case from a plastic table cloth that has a penchant for bunching up.

Jim Nelson ok, I was asking because I feel the design fails for adequate airflow. I like the idea of raising the unit somewhat and replace the existing fan with a 120mm

Jim Nelson

Jim Appleby In my experience, it's sufficient just to keep the area under the printer free from possible obstruction. Not that additional raising is bad, just not mandatory.

A breeding pair. The one on the right is our works printer, my own is on the left. Had an interesting issue crop up with the works one, took a good print of it on Friday and set another away. Came back to it Monday morning to find nothing, no print, nothing stuck to the fep sheet. Thinking I’d cocked up the supports I bolstered them up, checked the level, filtered the resin and started again. Same result. This afternoon I tried an exposure test on it to find the whole lcd would illuminate at what appears to be half power, irrespective of which exposure mode was selected, re-updated the firmware (to the same version as it had received a fortnight ago), repeated the exposure and all was as it should be, ran my xyz test piece and it printed fine, so it’s back underway again now hoping that the issues are done with. I am puzzled as to what was the route cause, but at least I have some form of solution. Cheers

Hi Folks,
Sorry to bother people again, but I'm after some advice with this printer. I've recently got the Photon S, and after two weeks of printing, I still don't have what I would call a satisfactory print. I've followed guidance from these Photon Groups on Facebook (being careful to distil the info between those posting about the Photon and the Photon S), and i'm still finding relatively dissapointing prints, where I cannot get clear detail, as reducing the exposure is increasing warp, and increasing exposure is causing the parts to be oversize. Its literally down to a window of a second or two, and at either end of the window I seem to be getting extremes of the effects.

Specs,

Anycubic Photon S

Elegoo Mars ABS-like Grey Resin.

Slicer- Chitubox (medium supports, using the auto function, with some removed/replaced with better cantilvers

Layer height 0.02mm

Bottom layer count 10mm

Exposure time 8.25s (m/c rounds to 8.3)

Bottom Exposure 50s

Light-off delay 6.5s

Bottom light-off delay 0s

I've run a photon S exposure test, and although rather subjective, it indicated an exposure time of around 6s. Firmware is v5.02

The last two prints were as follows. The diesel shunter (see attached pics), 6.5s exposure printed at an angle (nose end up) at 30 degrees, the surfaces and detail were pretty good, but it was parallelogram-ed, leaning back towards the cab. The following print, I put two of the shunters on, one flat in its "normal" orientation, and the other with it stood up on the back of the cab, 8.25s exposure, the engines have ended up very different dimension-ally, and were from identical cad. Each loco is out in a variety of directions/dimensions, but anywhere from 1 to 2mm, in either length, width or height.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has any guidance, as to where I'm going wrong, as these prints and the printer itself aren't of any use to me if they can't print anywhere near remotely accurately. They’re supposed to be able to achieve better than +\-2mm surely.

Hi everyone, I have a Photon S, and at the moment have only been printing with the clear red resin which came with the printer. The prints tend to end up over thickened, which i gather may be due to the light diffusing through the clear cured resin(?) my spec for the printer is a need for dimensional accuracy, I.e. Cad to printed part need to be as exact as possible, as the prints are for testing components (sorry I can’t reveal anymore than that). So can anyone recommend a suitable resin to use in the Photon S please?

apologies if this is a topic already well covered, but searching only seems to bring up ambiguous leads.
