I know this community is mostly into minis and models (and that's primarily what I will use the Photon for) but I get a lot more excited about mechanical prints. This is a tray I was able to draw and print in under an hour, to hold some LEDs while I prototype a project.

How'd you get that off the bed :O
Thomas Harrell 2020-04-03 00:13:26
Put the plastic scraper against the edge and tap lightly with screwdriver handle. Doesn't take much. A few taps and it'll start to pop. Work your way around the part.
Seth Seth Dyte Dyte 2020-04-03 00:15:14
Mmmm. Hmm. Lightly. That goes against my current "Norman Bates" strategy that I've been going with...
Thomas Harrell 2020-04-03 00:17:15
Just like cutting a big stone in half. You can't power drive a chisel through the entire thing in one shot. You tap it in specific locations. You continue tapping it until it starts to form a crack. You lead that crack with more small hits.

Cringe time, I use a straight up metal scraper, if your bottom exposure is high enough a couple little scratches on the plate don't matter at all.
Yessik Ziiq 2020-04-03 02:17:46
I love seeing minis, I might love seeing practical prints more, especially out of the photon, great work.
Jonathan Basseri 2020-04-03 02:20:32
I used a metal razor blade to get it off. There's a lot of flex in such a thin part. I made sure to lay it flat while curing, but it still has quite a bit of flex.

just drew a holder for wireless charging so I can easily mount it in a car. these printers are great for interior parts and prototyping
Jonathan Basseri 2020-04-03 04:23:43
Plus it won't melt in the car like PLA or ABS does!
David McGyver 2020-04-03 07:22:30
I use mine for PCB mounts all the time. The Acrylic is strong enough to take an M2.5 mounting screw with just a little cleanup, I actually print-in the thread then just run a tap through to clean if I'm feeling particularly energetic.

Scaled down to fit the photon zero build plate. Poor little guy didn't make it.
Thomas Howeth 2020-03-22 11:52:40
I promise it can be done...but I only went with 1 base layer and I was SUPER careful on removal. The back legs don’t move those I threw a little resin on them and solidified them

Oksana Shevchenko 2020-03-22 13:51:40
Do it diagonally
Jonathan Basseri 2020-03-22 14:24:10
This was diagonal but still flat on the build plate. I am thinking to try it diagonally in 3D space with added supports... when I get around to it. (:
Rob Robertson 2020-03-22 17:25:15
Yeah is doable! Diagonally I found it was large enough. And then wash it real well and keep it moving when curing so nothing can fuse together!

Scaled it down to fit, then coated in circuit board gloss when cured!
Jonathan Basseri 2020-03-24 23:42:23
Denlee Paddy Rhodes is that the same as a confirming coat?
Denlee Paddy Rhodes 2020-03-24 23:46:30
Jonathan Basseri not sure it's basically an acrylic gloss but with a slight flex when dried

Success! Meticulously placed supports, two IPA washes, and a hot water wash. Will try a coat of primer tomorrow.
原文網址 Jonathan Basseri 2020-03-20 11:47:29
I cleaned out the vat of my Photon Zero with IPA and tested the FEP tension with a spectrometer app. I was getting about 450 Hz. I've seen people recommend lower, but since the vat is smaller, higher frequency would make sense to me. Does anybody know of recommended numbers for the Photon Zero?

Initiating a new print after reading lots of advice here. ?
John Sparkman 2020-03-22 09:18:45
I'm still new but I see theres a lot of bubbles there I know that will cause craters in the print..what's your settings on your print
Jonathan Basseri 2020-03-22 12:51:11
I think this was at 0.05mm layers, 8s exposure, using AnyCubic Black. The bubbles are there from shaking the bottle before the pour, and I think they rise to the top quickly enough that it doesn't affect the print.

This is what I found that works with the grey
Jonathan Basseri 2020-03-22 14:23:15
I need to do an exposure test, but I've been getting decent output with lower exposure times. I've also started using 0.03mm layers.
John Sparkman 2020-03-22 15:48:41
Jonathan Basseri nice I'll try that my detail is off

First successful print on the Photon Zero! I think I forgot to enable anti-aliasing.

Just got my Photon Zero on Friday, and still getting used to the process. I have yet to find a Chitubox profile for the Zero, so I'm going to try modifying the Photon S profile. Any advice for this noob?
