Quick question. I found out I have a faux photon.
I used chitubox and used mostly stock settings.

It read the file, but nothing printed. Nothing on the build plate or In the vat.
Any ideas how that could happen?

I’m using a super cheap resin. (Shine sing) from amazon.

I guess it could be the settings I used their suggested settings and added about 10 extra seconds to the bottom exposure.
(60 Or 70 I believe)

Make sure your printer is level, bed is level. If it that doesnt work then try upping bottom layer exposure

Jesse Szabo I leveled.
the paper was tight and the model was in the middle so it should at least be level enough.

I’ll try 90 seconds.

Thanks

Take the vat out and run the file again. Make sure the LCD is working. Should have had SOMETHING there. Either on the plate or in the vat.

Fred Bey I don’t see any light on the screen. Going to wait until it comes up further to confirm.

The exposure light did work when I tried in the settings. I wonder if it’s my old version of chitubox. I’ll try the photon slicer if I can’t get it to work.

Also make sure the model wasn't all dark in the slicer. That means flipped normals, and won't print.

There is a light. I was watching for when the base lifts and there’s no light then ?

Would it hurt to have a 100 base layer? It’s clear resin.

Fred Bey

Clear resins do seem to need higher exposures, from what I've read.

Fred Bey thanks. In the settings I changed it to 100 and I heard a little pop. Hopefully ?
Thanks for the help.

Fred Bey quick question.

It’s on Mayer around 100 and I think I’m still hearing poping. Is this normal? Or is it fighting the fep? I’ll post. A short video.

Pop can be heard until last layers in some cases. If you have tight fep and good leveling then fep will be fine.

It’s awesome! I had to update mine before I could print anything. I don’t remember the version though, just that it is free from Anycubic’s website!

Yes, update to the 5.x.x firmware it'll fix a lot of things and let you use .photon files

Michael Sage

Vladimir Smith sane thing on mine. Of course you already knew that...

Tim Borschel it says the v5 is for only upgraded photons? How would I know if it’s one?

Also I assume you just put the files in the flash drive?

Dean Guinn

yeah my first one was a spark.... yeah never pay that little again.

So nothing shows on the screen during the exposure test. Just the fan turns on and shows light, but no shapes. I’m going to try to update the firmware and see what happens

Josh Mcavoy
2020-03-27 05:16:54

So the shapes don’t show up during the exposure test.

I was going to try to update the firmware before I open it.

I extract the files to the usb without a folder and insert the usb while the printer is off then turn it on and it doesn’t update anything.

Any ideas?

Tim Borschel

Josh Mcavoy try printing the files, you dont need resin or anything, you're suppose to do one before the other but I dont remember which order. One you do that then turn it off and pull the USB out then turn it back on should be good

Josh Mcavoy
2020-03-27 05:33:56

Tim Borschel the 5x worked. Thanks! Now everything works.

Josh Mcavoy
2020-03-27 06:08:23

So first 5 layers and no pop. Should I check it?

Jeff Greenfield
2020-03-28 08:22:10

The original exposure test may not work, you have the photon with the new S board.

Anyone here have have a eleegoo, monoprice mini & a photon?

I have a mini right now. Thinking of returning it for a photon.

My main worry is screen replacement. Just because I know On the mini it seems like a hassle for something that is going to die every couple hundred hours.

Is there certain printers easier than Others to replace the lcd screen?

Thanks!

I’ve got both the Mars in the photon, hit me up if you decide and out of those.

Josh Mcavoy
2020-03-22 05:33:42

Constantine Greanias which one is easier to swap the lcd screen? That’s my main factor.

Josh Mcavoy
2020-03-22 06:04:40

Constantine Greanias never mind I just Watch some you tube videos. The Mars seems the easiest, but anycubic not bad.
Thanks. Which do you like more?

Constantine Greanias
2020-03-22 08:16:53

Josh Mcavoy the mars seems to be more reliable
The photon has more support as far as photon verifier. You can just use the photon verifier anyway though so I would go with the Mars.

The Creality 3D LD-002R seems to have a really easy lcd replacement method . I was going to go with this printer but I couldn't find it locally .
