Hey everyone! Can anyone who has upgraded please share any feedback with respect to v5 firmware on the photon S? Like, can you just keep on trucking along with printing chitubox sliced .photons like before? I'd really like to upgrade to get the previous versions bug fix list. Like the ability to use long filenames. Oh and to "improve 2k lcd stability" ? I've heard a few "I can't print .photons" reports but I'm wondering if there are a bunch of silent success stories?

My first resin print. Little corner leveling error on top pic. I think I did alright otherwise. Any suggestions? I used anycubic grey. Voyager has stepping, I used the prusa optimal orientation (going to redo it larger and a different orientation).

So i had my Photon for about a month and i have done about 6-8 prints so far. After last 2 prints i noticed the following. I take out the vat to drain it and i notice that the vat is somewhat stuck to the bottom of the platform/screen of the machine i take it out and there seems to be some very minor trace amount of something that is stuck to the screen protector above the lcd screen. My main reaction is that it cannot be resin as its roughly around the center of the screen and it dosen't look like resin plus if it would be resin then wouldn't the leak be around the edges of the FEP?

I can clean it off with a lot of (5-10miniutes) careful scrubbing with alcholic wet wipes as the tiny stuck residue of whatever that is comes off very slowly.

Now my question is: what the hell is this and why does this seem to keep happening? Again it dosen't appear to be resin as the FEP/VAT is not leaking and i did not spill anything and even if i would i always clean out everything.

Is this maybe part of the FEP that somehow attaches itself to the screen protector due to heat maybe over longer prints?

Its really annoying as i have to keep scrubbing it clean between prints as it would oviously would negatively impact any future print if i just would leave it on there.

Has anyone experiences something similar to this?

See attached 2 pics of the issue. First is after i removed the vat. Second is after i painstakingly cleaned it away.

I am wondering about the resolution of the XY plane on the Photon. When I am printing something that is parallel to the build plate I don't get the detail that I am expecting with the printer. I am using AnyCubic Grey. I am trying to replicate a Fusion Collider from 40k, the dimensions of the features in the areas circled in green are 0.8mm, red is 0.5mm and blue is 0.3mm but when it is printed most of the details are not being defined. I have posted my setting below and have a picture of my print and of the original that I would like to copy.

PSA: So I was having a really hard time getting my Photon to read my USB and thinking I had a bad board. I learned that the problem was with the way Windows was formatting my drives. I don't know exactly why. But I tried every option to format in the FAT32 file system. I had before only had 1 flash drive that would work. But now all of them do. Solution: I used the " SD Memory Card Formatter " for Windows hope this might help someone else in the future if they can't get theirs to work. Happy printing.

I just replaced my LCD screen and my FEP film. My first two print attempts failed because the supports broke either completely or partially. Is this possibly the file being too tight or too loose? I releveled the build plate but still having issue.

I have designed a spill tray for the Epax X1, but this will work for the Photon and Photon S (the external dimensions are slightly smaller than the X1). It sits under the printer and will catch any resin leaks that might happen. You can download it for free and print it. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3965666 翻譯年糕
