I ordered 5L of the Monocure clear resin, and I'm a little stupid like that, so I'll ask a question that I should have technically asked the community before ordering.

How clear is the resin post curing? If it is frosted, has anyone tried buffing it? I ask because I want to experiment with making parts for a lens assembly.

Now with a base coat to see it properly,had a few issues with the supports touching the model that I didnt notice so had a few breaks or excess resin in areas..also was meant to have a truncheon but didnt create enough room so dont fit...lesson learnt.

Looking to buy a DLP printer for making scale models (miniatures) that will be used as masters models in rubber/silicone moulds for metal casting.

P{hoton has resolution but its also a lot to do with resin...

Looking for a resin that provides extremely smooth surface finish and high resolution that can be used in rubber/silicone moulds. (ie not a burn out resin the model has to be tough and offer the surface finsih with highest detail)

Anyone recommend a resin, have experience of this - For exampel on the crazy expensive envisontecs RC90 resin commonly used for this

any advice appreciated.

Hi all, I have an fdm printer and going to buy a dlp printer. I have a choice to make between the photon and the Wanhao D7. Can you tell me why you choose the Photon and give me some advise? (Having an Tarantul Tevo I am experienced with trouble shooting and improving a printer)

Just had my first failed print and I'm not sure what's happened here...
I've recently done the z-axis fix but I've started to notice the odd line appearing on some prints. Maybe time to replace the FEP film? It's seems nice and tight though.
Any thoughts here?
Also should note, I'm using Anycubic green and the model has had a coat of primer.

Monocure Standard Resin vs Rapid?
I'm about to order my first bottle of resin from Monocure but i'm just after some advise in regards to the two different options. Is one better than the other?

Here is my filtration solution to the fumes associated with resin. I have given this a lot of thought. The exhaust fan must be disconnected as it lowers the resin concentration gradient in the case and causes further evaporation. The hole must also be plugged to prevent fumes from exiting when the printer is not in use. So here is my solution. With this there is absolutely no smell except when you open the door to the chamber. Please read this entire post before attempting this project. This project requires some printed parts, a separate power supply, a blower fan and a charcoal canister. In order for this to work you need to :

1 - Remove the small exhaust fan inside the printer and plug the hole with the printed plug (black).
2 - Reverse the flow of the cooling fan at the bottom of the printer so its blowing into the printer instead of out..This is crucial as it is the cooling fan for the LED.
3 - Seal the vents at the bottom of the printer.
4 - Remove the back panel and replace with the printed replacement part (pink - I had some leftover PLA)
5 - Attach the 3 inch hose to the back panel.
6 - Place the Seaflo blower into the Charcoal canister making sure the airflow is going into the canister and tape it into place with duct tape.
7 - Connect the seaflo blower wires to the fan controller and the power supply.
8 - Attach the 3 inch hose to the seaflo blower.
9 - Adjust the fan controller as necessary to ensure a small negative airflow from the build chamber into the canister. The setting in the picture works pretty good.

I have tested this with smoke (incense) to make sure that the airflow is going in the correct direction. It works even with exhaust hole inside the printer plugged because the case is not airtight and will allow some flow through the printer. Another advantage is that the ambient air around the printer will also be filtered so pretty much no smell. Its also pretty quiet. The charcoal should only need to be changed once or twice a year as it holds quite a bit.. Depending on use. This requires a little bit of technical skill so if you don't have those skills get someone who does to do it. Also I take no responsibility for any problems that may arise. The dental resins don't have any odor but most of the cheaper non dental resins do. The dental resins don't have any odor but most of the cheaper non dental resins do. I am sure there are better looking solutions but I know this works. I have a Photon at home in a room with no vent so this was a must for safety and so my wife wouldn't kick me out.

New owner. I have 6 “regular” printers but wanted one that was more suitable for detail work and commercial quality electronics housings with embedded logos. I look forward to figuring it out!
