Good morning, I want to ask you a question, I have made an impression of a ring in the shape of a mouse, in the STL file it has details on the back of the little mouse but in the printing these details have not been obtained, attached photos; You know why this is? I have used the parameters that I show in another photo, I don't know why I can't get this print with all the details.
Telli Mantelli 2020-04-03 01:13:50
id hit it with a light coat of primer bet you see the details
Anders Scot Hudson 2020-04-03 01:14:21
May be a little overexposed, that can obscure detail like that too.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-04-03 01:15:12
hot in resin?
Olivier Nicolas 2020-04-03 01:20:32
Print at higher res, 0.01
Olivier Nicolas 2020-04-03 01:20:59
And may be the details are not deep enough on the model
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-04-03 01:21:41
layer height 0.01?
Amr Kandil 2020-04-03 01:23:18
Maybe it has something to do with Anti-Aliasing?
Lee Oakley 2020-04-03 01:29:32
Most likely need more defined hair. Remember you are looking at it on a big screen and shrinking it down to fit on a finger.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-04-03 01:30:49
increase layer heigth?
Yessik Ziiq 2020-04-03 01:38:01
To get that detail you're going to have to half your layer height, turn AA to a bare minimum and make sure you clean the model well after printing.
Yessik Ziiq 2020-04-03 01:38:33
If that's Elegoo green you could probably also drop your exposure to 10s
Jeff Timothy 2020-04-03 01:47:16
This is a common problem when 3D modelling. The ability to zoom in on your model to the nano scale changes our perception of the size of details. What looks perfectly clear and large when you're hovering above the surface of the 3D model, is tiny, co nsidering real life scale. Those hair details you've modelled are way smaller than you think. You need to make them much bigger. You could go even as far as doing test prints on a small test part at different sizes to figure out which resolution is most visible. Remember you'll lose some of that detail in the casting stage as well.
Mike Fatchett 2020-04-03 02:12:58
over exposure will wipe out details too.
Charlie Boost 2020-04-03 03:24:45
Jeff Timothy this answer.
Jeff Kitchen 2020-04-03 08:25:39
I've been playing with anycubic green for a minute now... your normal exposure time should be at 8 (give or take 1 sec base on machine)... your bottom layer exposure time is a little high too in my opinion, I have mine at 90 (80 for clear)... good luck
Jason Pedersen 2020-04-03 08:48:24
Increase the height on the sculpted detail.
Vincent Balmont 2020-04-03 09:08:00
Jeff Kitchen I have to run mine at 10 sec, 0.03 layer height. It think also depends on batch of resin, and ambient environment. My supports kept breaking at lower levels
Jeff Timothy 2020-04-03 13:10:19
I worked on a very tiny prop part for a big movie a few years ago, it got cast in brass, and it took at least 3 test prints to get the details correct. When zoomed in, the details looked HUGE but in truth the smallest details were less then 1 mm across and were lost when printed to actual size.
Lee Oakley 2020-04-03 17:30:04
what jason said.
Mi Ha 2020-04-03 17:35:49
Vincent Balmont 10s on 0.03 :O ? I'm down to 2.5s on 0.03 layers with the transparent green from anycubic.
Vincent Balmont 2020-04-03 17:52:05
Mi Ha you probably have photon s
Mi Ha 2020-04-03 18:13:07
Vincent Balmont ah yes, indeed.
Mark Wardle 2020-04-03 18:14:07
details are to fine you have to exaggerate the details to have them show. this was one of my first mistakes when i was creating models with fur details. even more when i was creating stuff in VR though my details looked high and thought they would print i forgot that when i shrunk the models down to scale you loose the details.

Hello the IPA that I keep to rinse the impressions is changing color and a whitish sediment appears .... does anyone know what it is?
你好, 我一直在洗滌印象的印象正在改變顏色, 出現了一個whitish沈積物.... 有人知道它是甚麼嗎?
Shaun Reno 2020-03-24 05:02:28
That’s the resin collecting in the bottom.
Shawn O'Hara 2020-03-24 05:04:33
That is the resin separating from the IPA. Seal the bucket and set it in the sun or under a UV for for a while. You can strain it through a coffee filter and what comes out will be good as new.
Thomas Goncalves 2020-03-24 05:04:44
At first sight this picture gave me unconfortable flashbacks i wish i could remove with isopropyl alchool too :(
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 05:04:52
Shaun Reno is no working?
Thomas Goncalves 2020-03-24 05:05:47
But yeah putting it in a sealed bucket and under UV light for a while is what I do to re-use the alchool. Less waste, more money saved and less pollution ;)
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 05:05:49
Shawn O'Hara still working?
Kristopher Calnon 2020-03-24 05:06:59
No it works, just cap the container and set the whole thing outside to get some sunlight that should make the resin colleted solid to get rid of
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 05:08:06
Thomas Goncalves
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 05:08:14
Is correcto?
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 05:08:19
Correct
Thomas Goncalves 2020-03-24 05:10:39
Yes ;)
Shawn O'Hara 2020-03-24 05:11:21
Milton Farfán Salazar Yes. The resin doesn't actually mix with the IPA at all, just kinda breaks it down until it reconstitutes. You will still have discoloration after you strain the resin out, but it doesn't affect the cleaning. I have several tub s of IPA that I cycle through so one can clean while the others work. I'd say a volume that size can last maybe a week between cleaning. And depending how dirty the IPA is, you might need to filter it a couple times or use multiple coffee filters, but those are still a lot cheaper than new IPA.

Good morning friends since my quarantine, please someone who can suggest me the best way to place supports and parameters for this impression? I use the green resin, thank you very much !!!
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-23 23:47:44
Here is what I did with a similar model.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-23 23:48:55
woowwww
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-23 23:49:28
and your resukt?
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-23 23:49:35
And the result..
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:00:48
nice!!! do you have the better parameters that green resin? i want print insects that use in metal ornament mold
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:01:22
do you have the link of the ants?
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:14:18
I used AnyCubic Grey, don't have settings for the green sorry. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:117753 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:116473
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:18:27
David Martin Schulze is good this ?
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:20:44
If you angle it up more sharply you don't need to support the claws. Which means no worries about removing supports. Use warm/hot water when removing supports, especially because of the legs. I used a hobby knife to cut the supports away.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:22:42
David Martin Schulze use hot water after cleaning with isopropyl alcohol
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:23:20
Yes after cleaning with IPA
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:30:25
David Martin Schulze
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:30:29
Better?
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:32:01
Seems to be, but I don't get why it's still putting supports on the claws. You using ChituBox? I used PrisaSlicer to create supports then slice in ChituBox.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:33:41
David Martin Schulze Chitubox automatic supports... but i can erase supports
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:41:07
prusaslicer seems to be better at auto supports. Export from prusaslicer as STL with supports then bring into chitubox to slice. Then use photon validator to check the sliced file. I've found that you don't need to fix every unsupported pixel that the validator finds. I usually just run its fix routine on it and call it good.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:47:36
David Martin Schulze this better?
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-24 00:47:48
David Martin Schulze 2020-03-24 00:59:38
That should work well

Hello friends, I was trying to print the mantis that you see in the photo, my result was not very good, many details have been lost, the legs are very thin and did not print, the antennas did not print, can someone suggest some parameters for me? achieve maximum print quality? Thank you very much and greetings from my quarantine in PERU.
Jason Pedersen 2020-03-22 01:07:14
I would orient it on its back so the legs print upward. Trim the antennae off in meshmixer or 3d builder, and add later. Either wire or print separately (depending on how thick they are). Best of luck, and stay well out there!
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 01:08:02
Thanks!!!!!
Chad Weber 2020-03-22 01:08:12
Jason Pedersen yep print on its back.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 01:08:34
Chad Weber Thanks!!!
Arel Armour 2020-03-22 03:07:50
I've printed a couple mantises, as well as some other models with really delicate parts, and I've found that orientation is key. Size also helps and increasing the model size even a little bit can make a big difference. Another thing I have tried is editing the model--make the antennae and legs bigger, or cut the model into separate pieces. I can upload some pictures of my projects if you'd like.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 03:40:52
Arel Armour thanks !!! I wait your pictures!!
Arel Armour 2020-03-22 05:08:24
Hymenopus Coronatus nymph. The antenna were too small and failed during the print.
Arel Armour 2020-03-22 05:08:37
Idolomantis diabolica. This one I separated legs, arms, and wings. I also edited the the arms into a threat pose ? . The wings and legs were too light and warped.
Arel Armour 2020-03-22 05:08:48
Praying mantis. The antennae were supported, hence the lobes.
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 07:09:06
Is Nice...congratulation!! Didn't have a problem breaking the legs when removing the supports?
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 07:10:22
my project is to print various types of insects to make them in silver ornaments like jewelry
Arel Armour 2020-03-22 07:20:52
Support removal was the most time consuming part lol.
Mark Anthony Vasquez 2020-03-22 16:40:20
Try using Prusa Slicer with its optimize orientation and its supports then slice in Chitubox
Vincent Balmont 2020-03-22 17:11:05
Seems to be a lot of supoort for very fine legs, I would do it upsode down and use less supports
Milton Farfán Salazar 2020-03-22 17:15:20
Vincent Balmont thankS

Hi, I had two successful impressions, but in the last impression the machine was completely (paralyzed) and the buttons on the panel did not respond either, I had to turn it off and restart the impression, does anyone know why this happened? I attached the photo and it looks like the printer was working fine but it stopped. Thank you.
