This time a question or two. So in the reprint of the stern I took off the printer this morning, I noticed some weird artifacts that I haven’t seen before. I see there were variations in the layers. I don’t t recall that happening before. Maybe it’s just the way the light is catching the print. Also, I notice some strange “sheeting” I guess on some of the surfaces. Any idea what could be causing this?

My settings were 0.05 thickness, 10sec exposure, 100sec bottom exposure with 25 bottom layers.

So I did this last night. I won’t say how because it’s stupid and embarrassing. But a bunch of work and resin down the drain. Probably better I guess. I made so many mistakes, I was having to do a ton of post processing and it was just not coming together.

Came off the printer last night. Turned out really great. As usual I over supported it so there is some extra post processing I have to do, but I’m happy over all. Glopped a little too much resin on his feet, but when I do the base it’ll get covered up.

Also this was my first attempt at using the drain holes you guys suggested and it worked so much better than my previous attempts.

I was interested in making a dice cage ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2244984 ), but I wanted to scale it up. I'm not entirely sure how to do it and keep the scale of the lid and the cage consistent. Do you guys have any suggestions before I go and waste a bunch of resin? Also, does hollowing look necessary? I feel like it probably isn't.

So question about drainage holes in larger prints, I’ve only been putting them at the bottom (away from the build plate) so the excess leaks out during printing. Should I also add one on the opposite end?

So I have a modeling question this time. I wanted to add a bandoleer to the attached model, but I'm not sure how (this isn't the final version, I have one that I made a few mods to that is the one I intend to update). I have been working with it in Meshmixer, but I am not sure how to get the effect I want. Mostly I have just been bolting on parts from other stl files. Is there a different program I should be using (preferably free) that would be better for adding elements to a 3D file?

What do you guys do with your old supports or failed prints? It feels like a waist to just throw them in the trash and I’d like to try and find some use for them.

My first big project is coming along. Still need to print a couple of the ballistas and the balloon, so about half way. However, I’m clearly doing this in the least productive way. It’s taking a lot of post processing. I had to enlarge and recut the model to get the scale I wanted and have had some mixed results getting the parts to fit together right. I’ve been using Army Painter Green Stuff to fill in the gaps. I used resin to weld the parts together which worked well, but I really glopped it on so lots of it oozed out so I’m having to dremel off the excess. I am not sure how I’m going to do that on the deck. Live and learn I guess. Much resin was sacrificed to the printer gods.
