Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團 » 用戶發文

I'm really happy with my Photon, and all of a sudden I'm finding myself looking for an FDM printer for larger pieces - mainly miniature gaming stuff (ships, houses and the like). Any recommendations? Things I'm looking for:

- Very good quality. Striations are why I've steered clear of FDM in the past, and printing with the Photon has established certain standards. I'm looking for as close to resin quality as possible. Miniatures I'll print on the Photon, so that's not an issue.

- Decent price point. I'm looking to spend something along the lines of 250-400 EUR (~275-440 USD, 213-340 GBP).

- Large enough build area. I have the Photon for smaller pieces. The Photon's build plate is pretty small at 115 x 65 x 155 mm. I don't need a huge machine, but something noticeably bigger.

- Ease of use. Time is money etc, so while I don't mind tinkering, I'm not looking to build a machine from scratch and start with printing replacement parts for it. The more plug & play it is, the better! Of course as with the Photon, I'm happy to tweak settings for the best results and so on.

I'm currently looking at the Creality Ender 3 and (inspired by recent reviews) the Lotmaxx SC-10. Any others worth considering? Experiences with these machines? All help is welcome!

Don't know if this counts as advertising (hope not!), but just noticed that there are some nice Black Friday sales on Anycubic's official site for both printers and resin.

I usually print miniatures stuff, but a friend of mine asked me for a historical bust of Nefertiti. I think it turned out gorgeous. Anycubic ECO @0.05

I'm printing some Heroforge minis for a friend, and they come with solid bases. If I print them flat on the plate, there's no problem. If I try to raise them from the build plate, no matter what I do with supports, the round base ends up asymmetrical and distorted in some way. I've tried using only a few supports, I've tried using a ton of supports but neither approach seems to work and it's doing my head in. Any ideas, especially from people who have managed to do this perfectly?

It's not a huge problem as I can always cut and sand the bases etc. I could also print them without their integral bases. Both of those are valid solutions, but what I really want to do is crack this and figure out how to get perfect prints out of minis with integral bases.

Is there a trick to supporting flat surfaces without deforming them? Should I just try angling the model so that I don't have any supports on the flat areas?

Sure, failed prints are annoying. I couldn't really be too mad when seeing this first thing on a Monday morning, though :D

Any examples of stuff printed at settings higher (lower?) than 0.05? As I mostly print miniatures, I do my work at 0.02-0.05, but as I'm looking to print a bigger piece, I was wondering what the quality is like for, say, 0.07 or even 0.1. I assume that as with everything, someone on this group has already done it, so would love to see examples!

Today I learned: there is no confirmation prompt for the "Remove all supports" button in Chitubox, a button conveniently placed right next to all the buttons you're likely to use when manually adding supports. There is also no undo function. Should you happen to click said button after, say, two and a half hours of manually placing supports on a model plagued with islands, you might experience a touch of frustration.

I'm currently printing 28mm miniatures on Anycubic's pink PLA at 0.02/12/5/70/8. Happy with the results so far, but would like to try and get even sharper detail just to see what the Photon can do.

As I'm new to this, would normal exposure time be the setting to tweak lower if I'm looking for crisper detail?

Just received my Photon! Camera distorts colours, but this is my first print using the pink PLA resin. Came out perfect, really satisfied with it. Very low odour too, I have the printer running in my study and I literally don't notice any odour (I removed the inside fan which helps too).

So, I've seen plenty of discussion on resin safety, and printing resin does sometimes come across as super toxic and hazardous.

Safety first, obviously, and protective gear is a must. Just wondering if printing resin is any more hazardous than typical solvents and other toxic substances you might come into contact with in, say, home renovation and other DIY work? If someone is used to handling and disposing of stuff like that, is there a reason similar safety procedures (avoid spills and skin contact, deal with spills immediately etc) wouldn't be sufficient with resin? Or is resin just like any other "regular" hazardous material?

Especially interested in hearing professional views, I'm sure there's a fair few specialists (chemists, doctors, plastics industry professionals) in the group :)
