Advice on orientation / supports would be appreciated -

I am trying to print this staircase and am having problems getting the railing to print. They are very thin and while the steps themselves print fine, the rails fail.

I don't get it. How/why does this happen? Same supports for all of them.

Four of them turned out perfect; one after another, after another.

Then I printed another, with a hole appeared on top.

Then the one I printed last night has a bigger, even more noticeable hole on top, plus it's foot is messed up.

What's going on?

Just want to say thank you to all those that came to my help with my Photon issues...im now printing again...ended up loosening the fep screws by around a quarter turn to tune it to around 280Hz and using VFXForges supports and everything is going well.

Alternatives to IPA ?

Anyone know of some good cleaning alternatives to IPA that you can get in the UK (or EU). I read about stuff that is much healthier, smells nicer with names like Mean Green xxx but they all seem to be US products.

Okay! I finally got up the courage (silly I know) to set things up and get the sample torture lattice printing. And...

It went wonderfully. I used the Flint Read method to level. I had to do it a few times only because the Z=0 confirmation message doesn’t match the manual and also doesn’t really match in English to what it should.

That all said, I put it in my custom UV curing “booth” for about 30 minutes [edit] after cleaning with 91% IPA for a few minutes. [/edit] The piece still smells like the resin. Does this go away or does it need more curing time?

Sorry for posting so much but HOPEFULLY this will help me and others with failed prints!

Changing out my old FEP and I didn't realize that there was a protective film surrounding it! ??‍♂️ I didn't remove this part last time which MAY be the reason my prints weren't sticking to the build plate.

(The photo with the resin is the old torn film from sticking so much)

So, a few questions:

how many prints do you typically get out of a single vat of resin? Do I need to clean out the vat after every print? Or is it OK to print 2 or 3 projects just adding a bit more resin each time?

How long it is acceptable to let resin sit in the vat? Am I OK to put a 4 hour print on and go to work for 12 hours? Just don't want it muking up my machine.

Looking for advice..

Im looking to get a FDM Printer for those larger prints that the Photon just cant manage - which is the better one to get - the CR-10, Ender 3 or the Mega i3?

Ready to buy one now, but would like to get some feedback on which people prefer in terms of print quality, level of difficulty to use and maintain etc.
