I gotta say, once this primter is properly set up it really goes. I'm going on 4 prints in a row and its going strong. Also ive managed to pretty much finish my first project for tabletop use. The bases were printed on my i3 mega, they came out pretty good the second time around :)

Here's a little something for those who are new to the printer/slicer or are still struggling with where to place your supports with the original Photon slicer.

If you're like me, you have most likely ignored the black line that you get when placing supports, right? Don't be like me, don't ignore it ? It shows the layers as it's going to be printed. I've learned to see where I need supports, BUT this little line will make your life super easy and you'll get zero islands. All manual. No crappy auto-support used. Took me 10 seconds.

When you move your mouse over the pattern, look for Loops. Each loop is an unsupported area, which will need a support. When you get a continuous line, that part is ok and will not need anything. It's self-supporting. When you're done, you can use the awesome File Validator tool to check if you've missed something. 99% of the time, it's all clean. (picture shown is not the best orientation, that you can ignore! ? )

So I got my Photon last night.

Tried to print a dnd mini as a test. Added supports in Chitu, rotated the figure 30 deg, sliced in Photon slicer and set to print overnight. Woke up to nothing attached to the plate.

I think my calibration might have been messed, so this could be a stupid question. I did the paper thing. I pushed lightly after I felt resistance and then tightened the bolt. The paper was then super tight, so I moved it up about 2 x 0.1mm movements untill the paper moved but was resistant again....was this wrong to do?

Finally I did my test print after installing the vent-system first and after taping the LCD with Kapton. Really good advice all found in this group! I was expecting the result to be more glossy. It was like this when I took it out of the IPA after 5mins. Curing, also in 5 mins did not cause it. My resin is 8 months expired ( 08/2018) but printed ok I think. I pre-heated it and I've shaken the bottle for a couple of minutes. Do I need to take the print out of the IPA container sooner or is it something else?

Anyone else with an FDM printer that is using their heatbed in combination with UV to cure? Seems to work REALLY well for me. I built a quick makeshift UV-curing device (using a UV led strip inside an aluminium round container) that I just put on top of my heatbed (Creality CR10-s) at 60 degrees celcius with a lid on it that seems to cure anything really fast a.t.m. (for me fast is 30 min / 60 min). Prints are completely 'dry' and hardened.
