Just bought a new usb 3.0 micro stick and copied my files to it, but when i switch on my photon it just black screens (wont power up). any ideas?, it is formatted fat 32 and i copied and pasted the old usb files to root. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Hey all, Im getting to the point now where i need a backup/another printer. My trusty photon v2 (i believe, yellow door) has been solid for 6 months now.

The time has come to get another but i don't want to the new 5.5 version due to the stl compatibility issues. i think using another brand printer will throw up issues for exposure times ect, the elegoo mars seems close, but i think the LED wattage is higher.

been on the look out for an older second hand one but they are selling for the same amount as a new one from anycubic direct.

any suggestions?

So I wanted to test out firmwares and AA in chitu box and see the difference for myself and is it worth upgrading the FW.

Old FW was 4.2.12 and no AA set in chitu box. New FW is 4.2.18 and AA set to x8.

In my opinion it was well worth doing, the pictures only show a slight difference but in real life they do look more smooth.

Same exposure settings were used 0.05 @ 8sec. Same resin elegoo grey. Same stl file including supports.

Some supports broke but I was rough with cleaning and they are 0.15mm in diameter so often brake during cleaning.

Hey all, i was looking into updating the FW on my photon to the epax x1 lastest version. so i downloaded it into and put the 2 files onto the root, plugged it in the photon and it beeped a bunch of times.

Now its says in the info its the lastest 4.2.18 version.

i was under the impression i have to print the .lcd file then the .bin file after but it has not done that. Does any one know if it auto updates now? or have i done something wrong?

any helps appreciated.

Follow on from yesterday's post.

Hey I'm having an issue where my fep and screen are sticking together (like a glass protector of a phone) this "I think" seems to cause light to bleed though and cure a thin layer in the bottom of the vat, prints come out fine but I have to clean the vat out every time.

Just to make sure everyone knows I did remove both sides of the protective film, it's the spare one that comes with the machine and i have cleaned the fep and glass with ipa at least 4 times now and let it dry before sliding the vat in.

Might try a new fep but before i do does anyone have any idea? Thanks.

Does anyone else have an issue with the FEP sticking/gripping to the glass as you are trying to slide the vat into the machine?.

Only started doing it since i have replaced the FEP (was the spare anycubic one you get with the machine and i did remove both sides of plastic.

Just to be sure its not leaking and i have cleaned both surfaces with ipa and even tried furniture polish but it still does it. Any ideas?

Hey everyone. I've moved the printer from the house to the shed due to the fumes. whats people's experience with printing at cooler temperatures? my house is approx 23c and the shed is about 12c today where i am in the uk, hopefully my print completes without issue.

EDIT: Success still prints at 12c.

Hey all, Im having an issue with my prints remaining tacky even after curing in a 36w nail polish curing lamp for 30min+.
i shake the bottle, clean after with 99% ipa and wash the models then leave them but they still feel tacky, takes about 2-3day of leaving them on the window seal before they feel dry.
this is the curing lamp i have, any one else use this? :
