Been a while since I used the Photon. Currently working on a custom 1/6 scale Resident Evil Alice figure that needs a shotgun (type
High Standard K-1200 Deluxe). Drawn in Rhino3D. Printed, cleaned up and primed.

I noticed Elegoo Grey is hard to come by at the moment so I'm eyeing different colours.
What are people's experiences with Elegoo black, white and maroon? Also, I guess I could mix black and white to get grey.

All painted 3D printed UN-ARC assault rifle for mister Big Boss. Was a fun project. Lots of things learned.

This 1/6 scale sword is about 90 mm long and 3 mm at the tickest part of the blade. The grip of the haft is 4mm thick at the thickest point. I printed it at about 45 degree angle to the buildplate, with what I thought were sufficient supports. But it came out very bent. Even the haft, which was printed closest to the buildplate isn't completely straight. My idea was to up the exposure as I have it pretty low right now for a more rigid print. Either that, or print in straight up.

I'm asking as I don't want to start an 8+ hours long printjob without having some idea how to effectively print this.

Coming along nicely. This Elegoo grey with Monocure Flex mix is more resilient than I thought it would be.

I did the first round of primer and sanding. Already looking pretty good. Just need a second coat of primer and then adding onto painting. Just look at how happy Snake is with his new rifle!

Ok, anyone can chime in as to the best way to print this little rifle barrel?

1.) The one on the left (upright) has drooping on the top arch of the vent holes. I should have supported this, but because of the size I didn't. My suspicion is that the center hole down the barrel didn't print at all because of suction.

2.) The one on the right just basically half sheared off the custom support wall and got completely distorted because of this.

I'll probably use the one that was printed upright and just use a small drill bit to round the holes out.

Testprinted some little ammunition cartridges for the 1/6 scale UN-ARC rifle.

Elegoo grey 75%, Monocure Flex 25%
Printed at .04 layer height, 14s exposure.
Printed upright, tilted back 10 degrees.
They printed fine enough, though I wished for a little more detail I'm now doing another test at 18s exposure and a slightly different orientation: Tilted back and to the side as well.

The off-color cartridge in the photo got a quick coat of primer for better visualization.

Whipped out the old 3D modeling skills, and drew a 1/6 scale version of the UN-ARC assault rifle from the "Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain" videogame. Used an extracted low-poly file from the game to use as a template. I've an action figure of the main character that didn't come with a rifle. And what's a soldier without a rifle, right?

This is 19 cm long in 1/6 scale. Still thinking on the best way to break it up for printing on the Photon. Also I think this will be a nice opportunity to mix some of that Monocure Flex100 in my Elegoo.

Lessons learned on the road to printing a large figure. This may be interesting to other newcomers to resin printing as well, so I also included the screengrabs form Chitubox.

1.) Tried printing the head straight up instead of upside down. But there are so many strands of hair so it's difficult to support. To avoid damage I only used very light supports. As it seems, not enough supports. Many of the hair strands failed printing. Fortunately nothing got stuck to the fep. This is the second time I printed this head. To be honest, I'm at a loss as to which orientation I should use.

2.) The rest of the parts went quite well. but there's suction at the arm area. Again, I probably used too light supports.Maybe I'm fortunate that part still turned out the way it did.

I still have some long printing times coming up with the base and cape to print.
