Second time my photon s is printing a block of resin. Changed the USB already. Before i start a print i dry print (without vat and build plate) and it is still happening. Lost a lot of resin :( Any suggestions?

that also happens to be the shape you see if you do a test exposure, so i would assume something to do with that, but i couldent say what would cause this, take the build plate off, tank out and do a print and see whats showing on teh screen as it "prints"

Angelus Mew Ellis yeah this i what i always do before a real print. Dry printing without the vat and plate. The lcd then show s the right one, after i cancel the print, put in the vat and plate, press on print again and this is comming out... Yeah looks like the test exposure, but i never touch it so why would it print it? So strange...

Do a dry run and see if the rectangle gets printed or not

Kevin Duong there's a layer view as it prints. If you see the layer view is a big rectangle like this then you'd be best served stopping the print right then rather than exposing the whole vat of resin.

Update firmware, happened to me, if you are on the last és firmware just update again and all back to normal

Take the resin vat out and run the print and make sure it's not doing that then cancel it then run it again with the vat back inside

Alexander Bayerdorffer Like i said, i dry run all the time before printing still this is happening. I try update then firmware. Any other suggestions?

connect USB , only after to turn on the printer. if you do before, motherboard has problems loading external ports

make sure to power off the printer and power it back on before the print.

Kevin Duong so if you run the test how long do you set it for? Default is 200s. If you hit pause by accident then hit print again you are just resuming that test print for the remainder of the 200s which makes sense seeing as to how this is one solid block. The other question is when you hit print does the plate drop into the vat? With out code to tell the plate to raise to certain height that test screen would not print anything that thick. It is almost like you are running the lcd test with the vat in-place.

Hi all,

I have been trying to print some geometric shapes, but got another failed print. I attached a screenshot of my model in Chitubox. The middle section came quite good, but on one corner i got a bend, can it be that the bottom exposure is to low and its caused by the peeling? The bigger part i have no clue what happened. It was stickint to my vat and one corner did not print well. I hope you guys can help me.

Hi folks!

I'm trying to print out geometric shapes. Tried with: Auto orienting and supporting in PrusaSlicer and then sliced it in Chitubox. Then wash it in Ethanol, brushing it with a toothbrush, breaking apart the supports and then curing it. The result was a cactus with some broken Edges where the supports were placed. The upper parts were perfect. Would it be better printing geometric shapes direct on the buildplate and set the bottom exposure to the same setting like the exposure time?

I'm curious, How would you guys print it?

Hi folk, just leveld my photon s for the first time, scratched my fep film while following the flint reed method. Accidently pressed the move 10mm button too, how do i cancle the command, for the next time i forget to press the 0.1mm button? Anyways, is that FEP film still good? Its quite deep, the one near the corners. Its almost as thick as my pinky fingernail and the others are just alot... Thanks for the replies

Hi Phontonsters,
I'm building up my equiments for my Photon S. What you guys thinkg of my setup? is the UV stripes strong enough? and does someone has experience with the filter system brand? I'm living in Switzerland so alot of stuff from amazon.com won't ship to Switzerland. Right now I'm buying my equipment mostly through Germany. IPA and Gloves i can find at my local stores.
