I recently printed my first model that was split into multiple pieces. Unfortunately some of them don't fit together. The aligning pins are too big, some of the larger portions are rounded. I'm thinking my exposure settings might be off. Thoughts as to whether this might be an under or over exposure?

I'm using Elegoo grey at 8s

Every printer is a little different and exposure with resolution doesn't say much. If you are at 0.5 that seems reasonable but it would be high for 0.2.

Im at .03 so maybe I’ll back it down to 6s

I’m absolutely done with Chitubox. How is Prusa Slicer for adding supports?

More detail: I’ve run into an issue where I cannot save my file, shut down, and come back and add more supports in Chitubox. Whenever I do so, the program crashes. No way can I make this my go to slicing software. Originally I chalked it up to my old iMac but considering this is happening on the new laptop I bought (9th gen i7, 16gb ram, gtx 1650) I’m done with Chitubox.

How often do you split minis for easier supporting/printing? One of the reasons I haven't been printing as often lately is because supporting can take so long and I have run into issues with chitubox saving supports. I would like to try splitting my stl files more often but am concerned about visible lines on the print where it's split.

Thoughts? Experience?

Having an issue where I can't run g-code files on my photon. I have a Fauxton running the newest firmware. When I load the files onto my usb drive (not the anycubic one but one that I purchased and reformatted to Fat32) and then go to print them on the Photon, I can see the test prints but when I get to the page that includes g-code files the file buttons are blank and the menu freezes up. At this point I can't go back or select any prints and have to turn the machine off and on again.

Any ideas as to how to get the g-code recognizable so that I can run the test print?

Having an issue with Chitubox where when I save a project file with supports, when I reopen it and attempt to add more supports it crashes. This happens pretty much without fail whenever I save a project mid way through supporting it and reopen the program.

I’m considering switching to Prusa Slicer and wanted to ask whether it’s better for project saving? The thing I’ve noticed about Chitubox is that it attempts to start where you left off or drops in an unsupported version of the last model you had selected. The software would be fine if I always had the time to add supports, validate, and fix but life happens and I just don’t want to count on that being the only way for me to print anymore. What are your thoughts?

For context I’m running on Mac OS X 10.11.xx

For those of you who use warm water for removing supports, how long do you generally let it sit and steep?

Edit: I plan on cleaning with isopropyl first and using the water only for support removal.

Thanks to the amazing info in this group and people willing to answer what I’m sure are redundant questions I’ve completed my first print with NO FAILURES! I decided to go a little ambitious with this print and do something with a lot of small details (those chains are a bitch).

One thing I’ve noticed after completing this print is that he’s a little smaller than I’d like. Unfortunately Chitubox doesn’t allow you to scale models without removing supports. Does anyone have recommendations on doing this? I figure just export as an stl, reload it, then scale but I’m wondering if there’s a better workflow for this.

I’m looking into printing some interlocking parts so that I don’t have to hollow models. One thing I’m worried about is the resin breaking. Does anyone have experience making pin and cavity pieces that would “clip” together? What are your recommendations for mm size so that the model can actually lock but not break due to stress?

Tl;dr - chitubox won’t save model changes or supports to a project

I have a chitubox question. I know that’s not the focus of this group so mods please delete if not allowed.

Last night I was working on adding supports for the first time in Chitubox. I got to a good spot and then saved the project (file>save project) which created a .chitubox file. However, when I opened it back up just to double check something the miniature I had originally placed in (a model scaler I deleted after finding the right size for my print) was there instead and the miniature and supports I spent about half an hour working on were gone. In an effort to trial and error I tried to start again, used the save button. No dice. I tried again with the save as function. Still nothing.

Am I missing a step here? I only downloaded Chitubox about a week ago so I assume the version is updated. Is this a bug?

For those of you that print miniatures, how many supports do you typically add for a medium sized creature. I feel like I’m going a bit overkill.
