Currently saving up for a Photon and I'm trying to take in as much info as possible (I've been FDMing for a few years but I understand resin is a totally different beast).
I'm planning on using the machine for medium-large models and I'm wondering what resolution is generally acceptable? I'm looking to do as little post-processing as possible (priming/sanding with FDM is too much work!). Is 50μm good enough? Anyone have any high-res photos showing the same model at different resolutions (preferably both pre and post priming, I'm interested in seeing how layer lines are affected)?

Hello I just ordered my anycubic photon and am really excited but a little nervous I've been using filament 3d printers for years so I know a lot of the little tips and tricks but this is my first resin printer and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good video that goes over the basics of resin printing so I don't screw up or buy parts and resins that don't work (I did buy a 3mm filament when the only 2 machines I had were 1.75 at the start of my 3d printing journey)

Made my first print with my new Photon S today.
Success!
A couple of things to anyone put off by the smell or cleanup etc.
I found almost zero smell or fumes with it placed in my laundry. Small room with no outside ventilation.
Cleanup really isn't much of an issue if you are well organised.
My point is, if you are undecided due to these issues (like I was for quite sometime), don't be. I have found that they are much overstated.
Just buy one and enjoy.

Hello,

a week ago I bought a Photon S and already printed some nice things.

But I have a problem with the slicer software. I am using the software from Anycubic (Photon_WorkShop_V2.0.23_Basic_Edition) and my Photon S has firmware.

When I slice the finished stl file, it sometimes happens that the Photon software suddenly closes. This always happens when the generated file gets quite big. It seems that this problem always occurs when the generated pws file becomes larger than one GB. The largest file I could create was about 1 GB. This is especially the case when I use layer thicknes=0.01 (then the file becomes big). For smaller models this also works.

Does someone else have the same problem?

With the old slicer software the photons files are much smaller, but my photon can't read them.

So I wanted to ask if you can downgrade firmware?

Getting a couple of odd things showing up on the prints. Using Anycubic grey here. supposed to be the cab section and tracks for an excavator. These were on one half of the build plate. A longer angled item was on the other half and did fine.

Print stays slimie after curing. What went wrong? Not long enough in ResinAway/TEK1969/IPA?

Has anyone ever tried printing something perhaps in an opaque colour and then pausing the print at a certain point, cleaning the vat and replacing the resin with a transparent resin creating a single piece instead of two stuck together?
