Got my anycubic photon. Set up so easy. All faults were self doing
Set up everything. Perfect prints.5 weeks in. Printer stops printing. This is were it all went tits up.Finally got to custumer services for them to say take the printer apart and do a voltage test on the led.Im a driver not a electriction. Told them a couldnt do it. They told me to do a firmware update. SO I DID. ERROR MESSAGE CAME UP. They told me to take apart again and do a voltage test on motherboard.refused and thats last i heard from them. Paypal has told me to send it back to china. £129.00 TO SEND. THATS BLOODY STUPID. MY opinion on this printer. Fantastic but crap parts and the worst custumer service ever.Dont buy

So I watched this video on YouTube https://youtu.be/4wnYcYb1YRw about alternatives to using FEP film for the VAT. It’s PET/EVA laminate sheets. The video didn’t show any results or comparisons so for science I thought why the hell not let’s try it.

The sheet out of the VAT is the original FEP sheet after 30ish prints (single/multiple modes per print) and the one installed into the VAT is the laminate sheet. It’s not as clear from new compared to the original FEP but so far it seems to be working just fine (see video).

I chose 80 micron thickness (will try 120 microns at some point). If it works then it will be a VERY cheap alternative. It was £4.99 for 25 sheets of A4 size. Each sheet can be separated into two sides of A4 so that’s 50 sheets, then each 50 sheets can be halved again for 100 sheets as the VAT only needs an A5 size. Do the math and each sheet is 0.0499p. At that price per sheet you can use these like toilet paper lol. Only down side is removing and installing a new sheet takes forever due to the 1000 screws you have to remove ?

I will post my results when the print is done!

UPDATE!

Did it work? Yes, half of the model did print until the sheet split and resin got on the LCD and a layer of resin cured lol (I cleaned it up fine, no damage done, wasted a bit of resin).

Print was fine up until it split, probably because I used such a thin sheet. Definitely won’t be using 80 microns, I will still try a thicker 160 microns sheet at some point though. I’ll be posting here when that comes.

So yeah, stick with the proper FEP when you can ? . I’ve done the science, learned something new ?

This morning I woke up to my printer chugging away just fine, 8 hours into a 9 hour print, but after sitting in the room for a few minutes, I noticed a beep and I looked over. The loading bar on the printer said it was at 93% but a popup had appeared saying the print had completed. Not only that but when I took a look at the print, it looks like it printed the last layer it completed before it decided to stop at a couple centimeters offset from the rest of the print. Anyone know what could have caused this?

Salve, Volevo chiedere un consiglio perché la stampante da un po’ ha smesso di stampare bene, anzi ha smesso di stampare .... stavo provando resine e colori diversi ed ora non importa cosa uso 80% delle stampe escono mancanti, colate in alcuni punti, vuoti nei supporti.... ho sostituito la pellicola più volte e usato tempi diversi prendendoli dal un file Excel che gira nel forum con i tempi in base alla marca della resina e qui dai vostri post, ma nulla. Attualmente uso il bianco anycubic ma i problemi più gravi li ho avuto col nero.... metto qualche foto....

ok guys, i have just tried my 1st print, no supports, a box shape as in pic, all standard settings using the stock green resin, it looks like it printed around 10 layers or so, then nothing after, and it wasnt stuck to the build plate but too the fep itself, what is the problem there, is it because no supports and too much suction or what, heres pics of model and what i got, any help appreciated, i now have the print back on with full support at the bottom!
