Guys
Can you tell me where can I donwload/purchase D&D minis to print with the Photon? I need a couple of figures
Thanks!
Wayne Mitchell 2020-04-02 22:46:33
Hero Forge is a great source
Shawn Michael Rains 2020-04-02 22:46:44
I get most of mine from thingiverse or cults 3D. This guy has a lot of good models for example: https://www.thingiverse.com/dutchmogul/about I would also recommend joining the FB group "3D printing miniatures and terrain"
Chris Carter 2020-04-02 22:47:00
There are many places. Try Thingiverse for free ones or MyMiniFactory or free and paid ones. There are also multiple Patreons that do fantastic minis
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-04-02 22:49:42
Thanks a lot guys!
Jim Dziak 2020-04-02 22:50:56
Thingiverse is great and I am liking the quality from Titan-Forge
Yessik Ziiq 2020-04-02 23:34:47
As someone working with Titan Forge I approve this message. Artisan guild and CastnPlay are also pretty good, drop 30$ on those three per month and you'll have more than you can ever deal with.

quick painting to realize, no matter how I try to remove the support bumps, I fail. This model is failed anyway. Just wanted to ask guys, what can I do if I painted and spotted the bumps?

Jason Willis 2020-03-31 20:25:54
Use primer first and sand down the nubs
Mike Watson 2020-03-31 20:26:40
? As above
Mike Watson 2020-03-31 20:27:01
Or when added support try of setting them a little
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-03-31 20:27:13
I don't need to use primer, because of the paint. But I'll do that
Don Mason 2020-03-31 20:36:25
You always need to use primer
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-03-31 20:38:38
My paint is not acrylic. I was suggested by the seller (who is an airbrushing pro) that I shouldn't use any primer, because this paint is not acrylic. I need to paint a homogenous first layer, which we could call primer.
Noah Belveal 2020-03-31 20:52:27
I use extremely light supports.
Mi Ha 2020-03-31 21:11:35
unfortunately a sharp scalpel, sanding stick and a whole lot of time is the only way.
Mi Ha 2020-03-31 21:13:09
Szabolcs Matefy Obviously it's not necessary but primer will definitely help smooth out imperfections like any visible layers. If you're not using acrylics I'd recommend a lacquer primer, mr hobby surfacer for example.

After cleaning the liquid resin off with IPA or some other cleaner, soak the model with supports attached in water as hot as your hands can tolerate after two minutes you can pull the supports off leaving very few knobs and little or no damage to the model
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-04-01 14:21:06
wouldn't it bend the model itself?
Tom Gannon 2020-04-01 19:51:50
Szabolcs Matefy It hasn’t bent any of mine. You just have to be careful if your model has any parts that are as thin as the supports. Because you can tear them if you aren’t careful. In short the heat does not deform the model, it lowers the rigidity and makes it soft. When it cools it returns to its original rigidly. I probably wouldn’t try it with gears that have to mesh, but for art pieces it’s great!

Guys, did anybody print an airbrush holder with the photon?

Vladimir Strycek 2020-03-26 01:46:42
I'm printing this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4197355 but on FDM I don't have any tough resin :)

Guys, I'd like to print a tick removal tool. Did anybody print something like this? My dog had one and original tweezers broke.
Paul Yanzick 2020-03-22 15:47:13
https://www.stlfinder.com/3dmodels/tick-remover-tool/
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-03-22 16:03:50
Paul Yanzick thanks, I've found it too. I was rather curious about personal experiences. But I'll check this list!
Rick Hanson 2020-03-22 19:06:33
I don't remember the exact model I used - it may have even been the one Paul posted - but I needed one last fall to use on one of the cats, and it worked perfectly. Little dummy sneaked outside and managed to get a tick right next to his eyeball, and I was able to remove it in seconds with the tool.
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-03-22 19:25:16
Thanks! For some reasons I can't buy a tick removal tool (not available in nearby stores) and it's the season of these bastards
Rick Hanson 2020-03-22 19:28:21
Yeah, they're already starting to get bad here too (northeastern USA). I hope your poor dog doesn't get too many this season, they're such nasty little things.
Szabolcs Matefy 2020-03-22 19:35:36
Rick Hanson We use tick repellents as well (drops into the fur on the neck, etc) but sometimes ticks are not informed about the effectiveness of these drops

Guys, a technical question here. I noticed, that in many cases the part of my models facing away from the build plate has a kind of melted look, details look soft. I use Anycubic Skin, and based on the XP finde it's 10 seconds recommended as exposure time. Is it possible that those parts are overexposed?

There are no failures, but happy little accidents...
So I think it's a failure, but year not FUBAR. Not great, not terrible.
I definitely need to print bigger.

Another question, if you don't mind. I try to load my antialiased photon files into Photon Validator but it never loads. The same model with non-antialiased export loads in a second...

Yesterday I printed the XP finder, and I found column 5 to be the best for Anycubic Skin resin. To my surprise in the morning I found the test bent forming an almost complete cylinder. What can be the reason?
