What is the best alternative to Chitubox, cause even running the 64bit version on an I7-9700K with 32GB RAM, the bloody program constantly crashes when doing many custom supports?!?

Make sure you are only working on one model at a time. If you put a support on a model that's not the currently selected one Chitu freaks out because switching active target and placing a support is too much for it. Try doing each one individually and saving as separate projects, then when you're ready to slice add them all to one file.

Ronni Kristiansen
2020-03-21 22:52:36

Ahh, will try that, cause with 4-6 models on the plate, Chity constantly crashes, even though I double check that I put supports on the selected model.... :(

My understanding is they're coming out with an update next month. Maybe that will fix some of the issues people are complaining about. Or maybe it will just create new and better issues! ? ? ?

Yeah, I was losing hours of work in total before I figured out the root cause. It taught me to take things one at a time and save often.

Is it to be expected that my prints become more brittle after a FEP change? The old FEP was a little cloudy at the end, so thinking more light gets through now, hence more exposure.

Nope

Chris Holden
2020-03-16 16:32:40

Did your Photon come with a tank with FEP already installed by the AnyCubic factory? Did you replace it with the same FEP sheets from AnyCubic, or did you buy a cheaper alternative online, to save a few quid?

Ronni Kristiansen
2020-03-16 23:37:41

It came with a FEP that has worked well for 3 months, but needed a change. I used original AC FEP for the change and managed to tune it to around 350-370hz. If I tune it any lower, the screws will be too raised. The first few bottom layers now make a sucking noice when releasing from the FEP, but the prints are perfect.... just more brittle than before.

Anyone who can give me a quick crash course on how to read this? I'm leaning towars 8-9, but what normal exposure do I multiply with?!? I'm using AC White.

Ok people, hit me!
Calibrated 3 days ago and done several print since then, without any problems. Resin shaken and stirred. FEP looks clean and dandy. Temp 24+ in the printing enclosure.

EDIT: checked the calibration/levelling, and it was close to perfect. Cleaned the vat thoroughly, and set the bottom layers to 8x95seconds, up from 6x75. Started print a humongous tree and a couple of other figures, just to do a stress test... so far it seems that all of it sticks to the BP, but still 8 hours left ;)

Anybody else experiencing that hollowed miniatures "sweat" resin, though there's no visible holes or cracks? I post cured them and primed them with paint but still most of my hollowed models seem to leak over time?!?

Well after several successful prints over the past month I suddenly get this... only thing I changed was curing time from 10s to 8s on my Elegoo Standard Grey. Also I'm starting to notice that the build plate is slightly loose along the x-y axis it's still perfectly level but it twists. The screws are extremely tight, so what to do about this?!?

Been doing some prints with standard Elegoo Grey at 10s per layer. The figures are pretty nicely detailed, and a bit flexible and sticky to the touch. When I cut the supports however, they are hard and brittle, and splinter all over the place... overcuring or something else?!?

Ok, so first time trying elegoo standard grey, instead of ac white. All figures came out fine, but warped and flat, like it only printed every other layer or something. Also it seems like some layer went missing in the middle of the whole thing. I used the settings I'm the spreadsheet for elegoo grey.... any ideas and can anyone share the settings they use for printing miniatures with Elegoo Standard Grey?!?
