Is there a slicer that orients models for optimal printing? I have a lot to learn and would like to minimize mistakes ( if I can). Is there a slicer that orients models for optimal printing? I have a lot to learn and would like to minimize mistakes ( if I can). 翻譯年糕

It might have been ambitious to try printing out this multipart print that took over 24 hours to complete as probably only my second or third serious attempt at using my printer but I think the results on this beholder sculpt from the artisan guild patreon came out really nice. I'm also including the paint job I'm working on so far so tell me what you think.

Update: I have a video on youtube going over how I painted this if anybody has interest in that sort of thing. https://youtu.be/NuG2VaGWYnE

Ok, so, set up and first print went brilliantly. Realised I didn't have some IPA, and living in rural Saskatchewan it's not easy to find so I had to settle for rubbing alcohol ( ultrasonic cleaner is on order now). Anyway it cleaned up ok and is now curing under my UV lamp. Super happy with my purchase.

Ok what’s the deal with the epax firmware? Can I get it on my photon S, if so how and if I do would I change my settings in chitubox to slice to a different format? Can’t find any YouTube videos on this.

Has anyone tried to modify the ameratown validation print photon file (included in the resin calibration / exposure test package) using the Photon Validator and modify its exposure values? When I first open the ameratown photon file, it looks all good in the validator, but as soon I save it (even if I don't change exposure values) it gets corrupt. So when I re-open it, the first layer looks like the 2nd screenshot...with the weird fuzz on the side and every layer above it shifts around and changes direction. The only way this validation print is useful is if I can try it at different exposures (or at the very least if I can print it at the predicted optimal exposure from the exposure finder strip). Anyone know what's going on?

Hey guys, new owner just got mine in the mail. Trying to design a startup tabletop game for eventual commercial sale. Excited to try out my designs. I just noticed that resin from anycubic is gona be a major overhead. Just wondering if there are any other companies that produce larger volume bottles of resin for cheaper that works as well in photon or better. Im not too worried about colours.

If I’m printing a small flat object that is only like 1/8” thick do I still need it to be 45 degrees or can it print flat on the build plate. Dimensions will be 2”x4”

So, in printing small parts, is Z lift distance, speed, and retract speed important? The default appears to be 1, 1.08 and 2.50mm respectively. Is there any reason to change that?

Whew! OK, modeling done on my "40K Paint/print test object"

This is a small object, relatively shallow, that should need no supports that I can use to get my settings right, and when I'm happy I can print out sheets of 6 of them at once easily on the bed... so I can test painting techniques on it without messing up figures.

I built this all by hand since yesterday, except the Orc head which was optimized off Thingaverse, and the skull (optimized as well). When I open a Thingaverse account I'll dig those up again and credit the people who made the originals.

I'm *thinking* the bottom of it will allow for easily popping it off the plate... but I'll need to test it of course. Input on how to design that is welcome!

This is so different than high poly modeling I'm used to! I'm fighting the urge to bevel things and add more detail! I just want it to be as clean geometrically as possible.

Anyway, I'll make it freely available once I've tried it out in person, and implemented any suggestions anyone might have.

Cheers!
