Hi guys,

Which resins would you say are the strongest.

I've read great things about Siraya Blu, but I can't get that in the UK.

I know I won't be able to match Nylon, but I'd like to get as close as possible.

I need a suggestion for a resin that keeps it's dimensions pretty well.. I have some prints coming up that will require them to be acurate and the Anycubic Flesh I have now never fits in the holes it is supposed to fit into.

I remember someone did a test with some red transparent resin that did well?

I've had more success with the molds.

I switched from the Anycubic resin to a grey, heat resistant resin. It can take up to 160˚c- Though not really required for urethane, it does warm up a little, so I thought it wouldn't hurt.

This particular mold is for a part that I manufacture. Until now, I have been making them on FDM printers. It is a mechanical part, and they have to be printed out of PETG, and they have to be ALMOST solid to be strong enough. It takes me about 1 1/2 hours to print one.

The cast urethane version takes about 15 minutes to make 4. And, It's MUCH stronger.

The mold is made up of 3 main parts, and 4 "inserts". The inserts form the end that connects to the motor shaft- which is round with a milled flat. The connector just slips on.

I printed the molds at 0.05mm resolution. The two outside parts are one print, and the middle is another. They take about 12 hours.

Both came out perfect on the first try- Other than removing the supports, there was almost no post processing. I even got to use my new curing setup!

I bolt the parts together, tighten them up, and pour the urethane. 10 minutes later, I have a finished part. With two of these molds, I'll be able to crank out LOTS of these parts. This printer has paid for itself in the first week I have owned it!

Well, the saga continues, reformatted my usbs again and now it can read the files. New problem, lcd screen isn’t lighting up nor does anything move on the z axis either during a print or in settings. Literally nothing. Can’t reset z, can’t home, can’t go up or down...

Sometimes the 3d model you download needs a little refinement one of the easiest ways is Meshmixer it has lots of power to set up your model for 3d print. Ed White here was in a little to tight space suit so I'm letting some of the air out by making impressions with the "Sculpt Brush. I'm sure Ill start all over but these things take time.

Hi guys,

I am totally new to 3d printing and have printed 3 prints with my photon. Today I had to try using 0.01 mm layers. But only the base was build. I used anycubic translucent green and same settings as for 0.02 layers (that works). I would really like to use 0.01 but can’t seem to find surgested settings anywhere. Any one have experience with 0.01 layer prints?

TL:DR Edition - Trying to come up with a less expensive version of the Form Cure.

Home stretch update: Interior panels are glued, and the exterior panels are temporarily in place while I glue the nuts into the T slots. Still need to model the front panel/door and paint everything before I can move onto final assembly and the electronics.

I wanted something that had approximately the same footprint as the Photon, could handle the largest print it could produce, and could be cut entirely on a K40 laser.

I think if I were to make a v2 I would use black acrylic for the main structure and mirrored acrylic for the interior panels, but I already had an excess of 3mm plywood and went through a couple of pieces in the development.

I have some "lessons learned" adjustments to make and then am planning on making all of the files and a supply list available for anyone who wants it. The parts are currently setup to be run on a K40 laser, however, if there is a general consensus about a reasonably priced third-party supplier of custom cut materials (I only know of Ponoko) I would be more than happy to come up with a version optimized for that.
