Hi everyone, I'm new to this group and new to DLP printing, and I eventually would like to get into it. Currently however, I'm a college student studying engineering, so I can't afford it. I designed this ring for my girlfriend, and really want to make it myself because I couldn't find a ring that was exactly what she wants; so I drew this up.

Here's where I need help: I need this ring printed in wax resin so that I can investment cast it. I am friends with a professor at my school that will help me with the casting process, so my only problem is getting my design from a 3D model to a wax model that I can cast (without buying a printer and the resin).

I am of course willing to compensate anyone willing to help me out with this! I understand wax resin isn't cheap and of course your time isn't free either. If anyone has time this week to do this, that would be incredible! I would love to pop the question Valentine's Day!

So is this the best orientation to print something like this or should i just have it flat on the bed but raised away a couple mm with supports?

Hi all! I finally have the photon, and I have one of those stupid questions that new owners have. The fumes obviously are a little bit more than the standard FDM printer, I’d like to throw it in the garage to print with until I can source proper ventilation. My question is that I’m in Minnesota, and in the garage it can frequently get to -10F during the dead of winter. Is this going to be ok? What other recommendations do people have?

I thought I'd share a print failure that was caused by an issue that I haven't read or seen here before.

The object is a 1/72 scale fuel discharge nozzle (i.e. a "gas pump handle"). I added the supports manually using B9 Creator and then sliced it using ChTuBox.

However, it totally failed to print. I was baffled because all of the other objects included in the job were successful, but I could tell as soon as the print started that something was wrong with this specific object. The printer screen showed all of the other base layers printing, but not this one. This object only showed up once the Z-axis had reached about .5mm.

Anyways, the fault was a small artifact sticking out of the bottom of the raft. This was a cresent, about .3mm thick, that was part of one of the supports.

When I put the object in ChiTuBox, the slicer did actually put it on the work surface, but all that was touching was this microscopic artifact. This meant that the base layers were never actually printed on the bottom of the bed, and the rest of the object failed to print.

On the next print setup I added the nozzle again and almost didn't catch the problem until I checked the slices one last time and noticed that at zero on the Z-axis there was nothing. It was then that I checked the setup from the bottom and saw the little artifact holding the rest of the .stl off the work surface.

The solution was to simply lower the Z-axis by about .4 mm. A successful print this time.

Anyways, lesson learned is to always check that the objects really are sitting fully on the work surface.

Printer showed up yesterday! Can't want to get it up and running. I set up some of my miniatures in Chitubox and basically all of them are saying it'll be 7-8 hours at .020 layer thickness for the best detail... so I was planning to set up a print before leaving for work and it will be ready when I get home. Once a print is done, how long can you leave it sitting in the printer on the build plate? If it was waiting for 3 -4 hours before I can clean it in alcohol, will the excess resin start to cure? I'll have my printer in a room with no sunlight, so I'm hoping it will be safe...
