Though I do not own one yet :) I am really here after all your enthusiastic advice.

I might be about to back a Kickstarter for a 3D printer....literally 24 to go from this post. But I first became aware of resin printers from seeing a Anycubic Photon print.

I have a few pressing, and now seemingly urgent questions, to put to you're collective hive mind :)

When I see pictures of prints, both in here and other 3D groups of the Photon, why are some smooth textured and some with lines ? Is this a common flaw in prints or is it to do with what resin/print speed it comes out at, slicing etc ?

If you were to say 1 good thing and 1 bad thing about the photon what would they be ?

I do appreciate any input from any of you I came here for what I hope is a none sanctioned unbiased view of the Anycubic Photon as my nerves are strecthed as far as they can be about the Kickstarter so sell me the Photon guys please :)

Is it ok if supports bases slightly extend beyond the box in the photon slicer? The slicer program lights up the build wall in red of a model goes beyond the plate but the other day when adding supports to a model I noticed some of the bases extended beyond good border w/o the boundary turning red.

Tom Kuebler was doing a live feed yesterday! Such an amazing sculptor. There's a different sculptor every Wednesday giving these live tours around their workshop. They talk about their process and answers questions sent by other users. Inspirational stuff. You can find this and all the previous videos on youtube by searching Shiflett Brothers wednesday all stars. Highly recommend to check them out.

New issue?

I finally got around to replacing the faulty mainboard on my Photon. It lasted 2 prints from new but AC did send a new one quickly but it took me 4 months to get the enthusiasm to replace. 4 complete prints later (no more memory card error!) I stopped a print whilst the build plate was homing then started another print. It then drove the plate into the vat and kept driving. The z motor was bouncing around making a terrible noise as the leadscrew just slipped.

Obviously it failed to home. The only thing is I can think of is a stopped a print as it was homing and then started another one. Anyone seen this happen?

So far no obvious damage!

Got my printer replaced due to (As Anycubic puts is) a defective mainboard. I was within 30 days so Amazon was kind enough to ship me a new one. My first print was this Gelatinous cube. I placed a skeleton inside in honor of B2 - The Keep on The Borderland. It leveled nicely, and printed out just fine. .04 with a 12s exposure and 8 layer bottom with 90 bottom exposure. I'm trying a little more challenging print next, but that'll have to be looked at tomorrow morning.The resin is Elegoo transparent. I decided against polishing it since it's a gelatinous cube.
