It's not an STL, it doesn't exist as an STL. The reddit thread you stole it from very clearly explained that it was hand carved - this is obvious from the clay working/dental tools in the photo.

Kyle McPherson
2020-03-16 12:56:01

Just because he said not to ask for the stl

and yes I know it probably wasn't, but my point is that it could be made with meshmixerr

Hey Photonsters.

Kinda embarrassed but I cant seem to figure out how to run/find the install for the file validator.

Naturally, I read the instructions but they fail to explain how I go about obtaining the files needed to run (I don't see it in the rar directory).

Downloaded/updated java and ran every file I in the install folder...

I'm not exactly computer illiterate - perhaps just confused for the time being.

Anyways, thanks.

I'm getting a little hyped up, guys!

This isn't a resin print (its sandstone from shapeways), but I did get my Photon in yesterday. Its all set up and ready to go (presumably). I have a new sculpture I am working on so no printing with the photon today! (A preview is posted to my timeline, though!)

This is El Diablos Muertos.

My dog stepped on it and busted the jaw off and the other horn but... still looks sick so whatever! Hahaha. Its mounted on a custom granite frame. :D

My main objective is to design and print more statues like this in the future (using the Photon and in a bunch of pieces, I'm sure). So, if you are interested in the pure art side of stuff - come at me!

I have a website set up for downloads and info on me and my other artwork - but its not ready for commerce today! Gimme a week or so!

Zak Williams can't say it is my design it was taken from a game then modified to be printable then split to print larger on the photon. Tried printing it small and dear god will never do that again.

David Johnson
2020-01-02 12:32:16

Scott Foster I usually print 8 inch scale, betwex her and r2 she will be like 15 peices, so days and days of printing.

David Johnson
2020-01-02 12:33:49

Brian King To be clear, I sculpted Leia, I snatched r2 off thingiverse, can’t decide if’n ima scratch sculpt r2 to be a purist or just be lazy.

Keith Barnett
2020-01-02 12:34:37

Keith Barnett the statues are printed resin though.

David Johnson
2020-01-02 12:34:52

Matthew Travis Shelley just grab a janky copy of zbrush and watch some youtube vids, even if you suck at it it’s a lot of fun.

Keith Barnett
2020-01-02 12:37:43

Joshua Alexander Gilpin I need to keep better track of which group I'm reading...lol

Honestly, I dont think I could have afforded to print it in resin. It cost over $100 in filament.. or had the time. It took over a month in fdm!!! And that was with multiple printers..lol

David Johnson My two cents:

If you sell files, you will lose control of it. People will resell it as theirs. If your business model is selling pieces, don't sell files. If your business model is selling files, then be aware that they have a shelf life.

Second print was successful. Measure in around 95mm scale. I will play with meshmixer and bumping it up to 120mm scale later on this year.
