Hi, just got my photon, was wondering about three things,
1. How should I go about post processing a print? (Ipa then water then cure or water then ipa?)
2. I've seen that some people have disabled the fan in the back right of the printer to reduce smell, are there any cons to this, if so what are they? (Or how should I go about disabling it?)
3. I was too excited with the new printer and started a print only to later remember that I don't have a resin curing device and that it'll be dark outside when it finishes. As such how long can a print sit on the 'bed' for or should I remove the print, prep it for curing and sit it somewhere in the mean time?

I'm printing @.05, 8 layers, 11 exp, 60sec bottom. Also angled at 40° with heavy supports. One side is flat as needed. The bottom side facing the plate is not flat.. I'm lost.. ? ??‍♂️

I just cleaned my vat for the first time and used 99% iso alcohol and a paper towel. Was

Hey everybody.
Couple questions for our casters in here:
Ive bitten off the task of casting 2 very close friends wedding rings + a few other items for a fun gift. Its what brought me to the photon over using my cnc mills to do the wax. Also...I program machines to cast steel and aluminium for a living
Same thing right ? ?

Anyways.

Bluecast seems to be the end all be all when it comes to fine detail and quality ive gathered. I figure thats what the rings will be.

Ive seen other castable resins mentioned. Cheaper? Less detail id assume but thats ok. Recommendations?

Lastly, ive seen the flood of the cheap chinese electric melters. Like anything ive purchased from China, i only expect it to last a short while before i have to dig in and fix it. (My Co2 laser for example)
Are these things as good/bad as ive read? Anyone found parts? Or is there a more reputable brand out there without breaking the bank?

Yes I know overall it’ll be quite an investment for the rest of machinery versus sending off to a casting house, but given my existing customer base and me just being a nerd, I’m certain itll pay for itself. Especially if I can cast a bit bigger pieces out of aluminium/brass etc.

If theres another group i should lean towards for casting instead of flooding the Photon group I’d ve game to join.

Trying my new Anycubic Black Resin, using this setup from this google link. Turned out quite okay. And i’am using the photon slicer. The flat surface looks nice and smooth. The top object was using the default setting and the bottom one using the new setting.

Layer 0,050
- normal exposure: 9
- Offtime: 2
- Bottom exposure: 55
- Bottom layer: 8
- Room temp: 22

After much trial and error (and persuasive language) I final got my resin wash station all done. No more dipping and stirring by hand, just turn the switch and watch the tornado appear. This is a way cheaper than the Formlabs WASH.

So I just saw eSun makes resin and I’d love to know if anyone had experience with it. How does it print? Does it take good details (can I do miniatures)? Most importantly, how is the odor??? I just started using Anycubic grey and almost gassed myself out of my apartment. Any input is welcome!

I have a confession to make. I’m not a sand person but after trying heat, the freezer etc I just a scalpel blade to lift off the build plate. And I’ve started curing in water. Less warping, faster and doesn’t stick to anything. Very important for the tiny parts.ok confession over
