Hi All

A friend of mine asked the following

"how eco-friendly is the resin you use? It seems that a significant proportion is in the sprues. Also, is it biodegradable? These are genuine concerns any manufacturer or supplier have no matter what they are dealing with. Given that environmental issues are extremely important and legislation is changing daily, you may find the substance you are using could be banned if it does not meet certain criteria. Could you achieve the necessary detail whilst using a future-proofed eco-friendly material? You may not be able to sell the files (or find customers) if it requires a banned substance to produce it."

By "sprues" he means "supports"

I am using anycubic grey if it makes a difference?

Thank you too all members who suggested cleaning the ball joint on the build plane. Mine was dirty dirty and is now residing in a bucket of IPA as a precursor to a good clean up

The bad news is the only size hex key I do not have is the one that unscrews the ball joint - typical

Can anyone confirm what size it is please?

So how flat does the build plate have to be? I have just laid a 6" rule across mine and you can see a thin sliver of daylight under the rule in both ways (the build plate edges are higher, there is a dip in the middle)

If I want to sand it level whats the best way to do it?

I have a love-hate relationship with my Photon

Previous to this pics shown below I had a perfect print.

The next print was same models same setting same resin, the only thing that had changed was the way the models were arranged and the different numbers of each. 50% stuck to the FEP, the rests had large resin flaps or gaps and cracks.

AAAARRGGHH!

Seems more of a mystic art than a science to me, I'm baffled

Quick question if I may?

Does anyone know of a free way to convert .MAX files into another format? Directly to STL for preference but I'll take an intermediate step

1/2 hr of Googling hasn't produced anything workable :(

Ladies & Gents

I was very pleased to resume printing today. My new ersatz fume cupboard worked a treat and kept the smell down. On that count I was well pleased.

However the print results were rubbish. The base looks as if it has pulled from the plate and many of the models have "flash" around them

I am looking for some advice please

I have a quandary. I have now done done 4 prints on my printer - all apart from the first failed to some degree and all apart from the first were done in my (cold) conservatory

I'm pretty certain the low temps are what is causing the failures

I can heat the conservatory but that involves shutting all the ventilation which makes the main house stink and the makes the wife cross.

So I'm stuck, smell or failures due to low temp. i need room temp and no small. Any thoughts?
