After running a day or two of tests, I'm trying to print my first action figure using a roughly 50/50% mix of Siraya Tech flexible "Tenacious" resin and regular black.

It's a bit disappointing that I have to use such a high ratio because (A) the Siraya stuff is super expensive and (B) it makes smaller parts semi-transparent, but the degree of flexibility is inversely proportional to the thickness of the part, which makes perfect sense.

I noted on my test prints that the tiny 1.5mm support columns become semi-flexible (like the teeth of a comb) at about 33% Siraya but the 13mm wide part I was trying to print was still completely solid. At 50% Siraya, the 13mm tube is still utterly inflexible, but I've got a tiny amount of bend on the 3mm raft, and the 1.5mm support pieces bend easily with something close to the flexibility of most fingers and small accessories on vinyl action figures (though they will snap and break off if you bend them too far).

50/50% is probably the best mixture I'm likely to get without also having parts that are completely see-through. (I've learned that flexible = unpaintable, so what you see is what you get.) I may get slightly better opacity results with resins that aren't black, since it's semi-translucent to begin with. I'm curious as to what this stuff will look like mixed with Anycubic Flesh.

I've had to adapt my usual FDM printing plug design to incorporate a U-shaped hole in the center that I hope will give the two prongs enough flex to fit into the sockets and then elasticize back into place so they don't pop out again after assembly.

Assuming no misprints, I should know by tomorrow morning if it's worked.

I was transferring some residual Anycubic Green into my Frankenresin bottle earlier today. I hadn't opened it in a while and forgot how strong that smelled!

So... This evening I decided to pour a couple fingers of one of my favorite Scotch bottles: Lagavulin 16 - also haven't opened this bottle for a while...

Holy cow! First thought I had was resin printing...and not in a bad way! Lol!

I'm getting my Photon delivered on Monday and I've download the photon slicer program on my computer from their web site. It's my first 3D printer but I feel up to the learning curve. I just hope I get a good printer (after reading posts here). I'm a avid war gamer and I intend to print miniatures for several games of different scales. I've been working on my first project for my first print... I even hollowed it out, made drain holes in their bottoms and supported any possible islands (I could identify). It is 1/56 scale German Sdkfz 234-3 armored car. I figure go big or go home... LOL here is a picture of the photon file i plan on using

Hey gang, so I’m having a problem with anycubic black resin. I’m trying to print these models 4 to a plate. In the grey they work no problem, but this black. I’ve had 1 successfully print so far and that was bowed and then shrank a lot on cure (ipa, water then cure in sunlight)

I’m using the standard settings off the google sheet, model is hollow, printing direct on plate. Running firmware to v4.2.19. I’ve levelled the plate and got perfect prints in grey and smaller black ones direct on plate.

I want to avoid supports if possible to keep resin usage down. Anyone got any ideas.

I attempted to print two minis at once, I have the base for one and the other one turned out kind of. The one that kind of turned out looks like it’s missing a lot of the detail in the body in the head and in the book. I’ve got no idea what happen with the other one that I only have a base, does anyone have any idea what might’ve gone wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Just as a side thing, I join this group on Wednesday and I’ve made a couple posts already and everybody has been super helpful and friendly so thank you for all the advice I’ve gotten so far ?

A couple weeks with my Photon S and I think I've got an OK handle on printing in gray. Just need to start doing test runs of lower resolution prints to strike the right balance between quality and speed (each of these took at least 8 hours to print).
